Yesterday was such a Cornell day. I went to office hours at 2, then went straight to the lib with Ben and seriously studied straight till 12:30am. I was in Olin Cafe, so at least I got to actually speak to people, but I was still hardcore nerd pretty much all day. But I was like uber productive, so I don't even have to stress too much today. Yay for me actually having my life together for once!
Tomorrow at 3pm I have my comparative politics final and then I am officially done! Seriously so excited. Although honestly it's really scary that my sophomore year of college is actually over. I'm halfway through with undergrad. Halfway out of Cornell! It's so super scary. I don't think I ever even want to graduate. College is like basically the perfect kind of life, why would anyone ever want to leave?! I plan to delay the whole Entering the Real World thing for absolutely as long as possible.
Anyway, I was walking home from the lib at about 12:30am when I'm like walking past these two guys on a path in the Arts Quad and after I'd passed them I hear them like whisper from the side of the path in darkness (seriously, how sketchy is this, I was about to speed dial Blue Light on my cell!), "Hey, you wanna shotgun a beer?"
My first thought, of course, was like oh my gosh I love Cornell so much. Cornell is just this place where some of the world's smartest and craziest kids just get to live for four years and do absolutely insane things, while at the same time learning how to run the world in the next couple years. Also, I kinda had a fleeting thought about how it's kinda scary that two guys are whispering to me from the shadows on the darkened Arts Quad in the wee hours of the morning. But that thought quickly passed, and I was like, "Sure!"
So I shotgunned beer with these two guys, Pete and Mike, who are now like my BFF. It turns out that they're both in Sigma Chi, so I'd actually met Pete before. He swears that we actually sat next to each other at the Sigma Chi Valentine's Day Formal, though I don't remember that. Then again, I don't remember a lot of that night. He was also like, "Not to be sketchy or anything, but I think I've seen your webshots!" Oh how I love the lines you'll hear at Cornell. But apparently he's in the Waiters and had come across my pictures when he Googled the Waiters because I have a pic of them singing at our bid night this year. But anyway.
Mike was just a teensy bit incompetent at keying the can, and I have a cut on my lip now. Well worth it though, for such a quality story of Cornell sketch and awesomeness all at once. Cornell is wonderful. So even though I have another exam tomorrow and today will be full of lots of studying and probably a lot of stress and caffeine and adderall, there's always the hope that I'll be crossing the Arts Quad and some nice stranger in the bushes will offer me a beer to help me relax.
Cornell is the best place in the world, and I'm so sad to leave it, even for just 3 months!
xoxo!
