Some days suck
As much as I would have expected otherwise, I seriously miss Boston. You can't buy a reasonably priced box of good black decaf tea at any of the local markets here (but of course, there's coffee as far as the eye can see). My radiator hisses and my neighbors run leafblowers at 7am. I spend all of my free time studying or planning to study.
I also just spent a few minutes deciding that based on the university's definition, the professor who makes inappropriate remarks to the class and generally makes most of the female students in the class uncomfortable with his remarks does not violate the university's sexual harassment policy (mostly tone with only one really quotable quote). Our program director's response the students mentioning the concerns with professor's behavior was to claim that our professors are 'toughening us up for medical school', but that they all really care. I think I'd feel more love if I didn't have to go to said professor's class.
Incidentally, thank you everyone for all of the birthday wishes. I'll get around to the last of the personal thanks shortly, but the blanket message seemed in order.
