The loom is now properly equipped with four 45" warp rods (two steel and two dowels, for the time being). Last night I began exploring and finding other idiosyncracies.
The beater is slightly misaligned. This needs to be corrected, which will be a tricky process, otherwise its wonkiness will affect the weft threads. I'll try sanding joints and tightening bolts tonight.
The treadles (foot pedals) are missing their cotter pins, to which the bottoms of the harnesses are supposed to be connected. The way they have been jerry-rigged without pins, the harnesses are likely to jam. Apparently cotter pins can be obtained from a loom supplier, but for now I can make some by cutting and bending a wire clothes hanger.
Some household lubricant will be necessary to eliminate squeaks.
On lunch break I made a raddle with a length of waste lumber and large finishing nails. I could have made it at home, but decided to use the drill press to pre-drill nail holes, assuring their straightness. 90 nails, less frustration.
