Les dropped me off at home. I washed some dishes, had dinner, packed to head to Toronto for the weekend and went down to the street. My car was gone. Why would anyone want to steal a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire with 188,000 km and looking every cm of it? I was frantic.
I called the police and discovered it had been towed for street cleaning. The towing company would have charged an extra $35 for me to pick it up tonight, so I opted to wait until 9 a.m. tomorrow and pay $61.
So I'm spending the evening at home. It has been go, go, go. I'm tired, drained and solitude-deprived, so this isn't the end of the world. I just wish the enforced down time hadn't cost half a day's pay.
I'm trying to focus on the highlights of the week just past. Niagara-on-the-Lake was full of magnolias in bloom.
The bell tower at St. Mark's has a carillon. The door to the tower is behind the organ loft, so Wednesday morning we crept up the ladder to see it. It is programmed to play songs a few times a day, some hymns and some folk songs like Scarborough Fair.
