Casting The House of the Spirits, Isabel Allende
When doing this picspam, I had to decide if I was casting the book or recasting the movie, which featured Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, and Winona Ryder, just to mention a few. As I've never seen the movie, I went with the book. The only justification I can offer for each of these is the person selected is who I saw in my head when reading the book.
No real spoilers, just some quotes from the book, enjoy!

It is a delight for me to read her notebooks from those years, which describe a magic world that no longer exists. Clara lived in a universe of her own invention, protected from life’s inclement weather, where the prosaic truth of material objects mingled with the tumultuous reality of dreams and the laws of physics and logic did not apply.
Javiar Bardem as Esteban Trueba
She also helped us write, and thanks to her presence Esteban Trueba was able to die happy, murmuring her name: Clara, clearest, clairvoyant.
Natalia Verbeke as Férula
"I set my curse on you, Esteban!" Ferula shouted back. "You will always be alone! Your body and soul will shrivel up and you'll die like a dog!"
Marion Cotillard as Blanca Trueba
She was considered timid and morose. Only in the country, her skin tanned by the sun and her belly full of ripe fruit, running through the fields with Pedro Tercero, was she smiling and happy. Her mother said that that was the real Blanca, and that the other one, the one back in the city, was a Blanca in hibernation.
Camila Sodi as Alba Satigny
Alba was born feet first, which is a sign of good luck…. ‘There’s no need to worry about this little girl. She will be lucky and she will be happy.'
