Las cortes vampíricas
Um, como primera entrada de Livejournal no pega mucho. Tendría que ser un "Hola, me llamo tal y mis aficiones son cual" pero, como supongo que, si alguien se lee esto es porque ya me conoce, pues vamos al grano. A ver, estos días he trabajado en el esquema de los capítulos del Baile de Invierno de "Rosa de Sangre". Teniendo en cuenta que es donde se va a reunir la nobleza vampírica al completo (de todo elmundo) y los líos políticos que va a haber, la cosa me ha llevado a preguntarme cómo se organizan los vampiros (y a inventármelo, claro).
Es decir, sabemos que el mundo vampírico es piramidal, con los Niveles A primero y los B después que son los que parecen mandar. Sabemos que, en tiempos de los Kuran, había un rey que, suponemos, lideraba todo el mundo y que luego fue sustituido por el Consejo de Ancianos. Vale. Pero, ¿quién mantiene el orden en las grandes ciudades asiáticas, o norteamericanas, o rusas, o en América del Sur? Es decir, se supone que hay vampiros por toda la tierra, no sólo en el lugar donde está ambientado VK, llámese Japón o lo que toque.
Supongo que el Consejo/rey Kuran actuarían como Alto Tribunal, juzgando los grandes asuntos. Incluso creo que se podría deducir que cada miembro del Consejo se escogería no sólo por poder familiar, sino por influencia geográfica, con cada miembro como líder de, qué sé yo, Europa Oriental, África, Mediterráneo...
Me parece que, en el caso de VK, se podría aplicar muy bien la estructura de "Cortes" del juego de rol Vampiro: la Mascarada: el mundo está dividido en áreas de influencia, cada una gobernada por un vampiro antiguo (llamado el Príncipe), que impone su ley sobre el resto de la población vampírica, más joven y de diversos clanes. Cada una de estas cortes suele tener su centro en alguna gran ciudad humana, donde los vampiros están infiltrados en todos los estratos de poder, y su influencia se extiende tantos kilómetros como el poder de su Príncipe. Las luchas y las intrigas entre cortes para conseguir absorber ciudades para engrandecer su propia área de influencia, o incluso para derrocar a otros Príncipes, están servidas. En el caso de este juego de rol, no existe como tal una autoridad "de último recurso" que se ocupe de los conflictos cuando se salen de escala, excepto la Camarilla, una reunión de los más antiguos de cada clan (tipos de vampiros diferentes), pero su preocupación es ocultar la existencia de los vampiros a los humanos, no poner orden en litigios internos.
¿Creéis que se podría aplicar esta estructura a VK, especialmente ahora que no existe ni el Consejo de Ancianos ni todavía hay un rey? Creo que podría resultar creíble que cada una de las familias nobles que conocemos, especialmente las más poderosas (Ichijos, Aidos...) encabezara una Corte, un área de influencia geográfica que comprendiera más o menos ciudades o estados (humanos) y se encargara de poner orden en esa zona. A fin de cuentas, en el manga vemos a Lord Aido decir que va a encargarse de algunos Niveles C que estaban montando barullo aprovechando la inexistencia del Consejo. Teniendo en cuenta que existen los purasangre, también podría ser que cada uno de los que aún quedan en el mundo reuniera a cierto número de Cortes a su alrededor, velando por el orden entre ellas. El hecho de que un Nivel A estuviera detrás de las Cortes, disuadiría a otros nobles o purasangres de buscar el conflicto abierto por la supremacía, por miedo a la que se podría montar. El viejo lema del equilibrio del terror.
Lo que estaría en juego en el capítulo del Baile de "Rosa" y creo que, en cierto modo, también en el manga, es quién es el órgano de vigilancia supremo, el Alto Tribunal que ha de fijar las grandes normas de comportamiento en el mundo vampírico y con el mundo humano. Es aquí cuando las posiciones estarían divididas entre los que preferirían que fuera un purasangre quien ostentara ese papel o un senado de familias, al estilo del antiguo Consejo. Y, en el primer caso, a los que optarían por Kaname o por Sara.
Supongo que el actual mundo vampírico de "Rosa" (¿puede que el del manga también?) se podría dividir entre: los nobles que quieren que Kaname sea rey con el apoyo de un senado compuesto por dirigentes de las distintas cortes mundiales de forma rotaria; los que prefieren que Sara sea reina, ya sea en solitario (los menos, creo todo el mundo recela ya del poder en una sola mano) o con lo que queda de las familias del antiguo Consejo, y el bloque de los No Alineados, o sea, los que están de purasangres y Consejos hasta el gorro y creen que los nobles dirigiendo las Cortes ya son más que suficiente y no se necesita una sociedad tan estratificada.
¿Qué creéis? Ya sé que es el teoría política total, pero, teniendo en cuenta lo que toca en mi fic y el aire que está cogiendo el manga, supongo que en algún momento deberíamos empezar a saber cómo se organizan los vampiros. En cuanto a "Rosa" *suspira* tengo el esquema hecho pero sólo he podido escribir 3 páginas del próximo capítulo. Simplemente, no tengo ni un rato libre para escribir durante las vacaciones y, por mucho que me estresse, no voy a conseguir cambiarlo. Creo que me estoy resignando a no poder actualizar hasta que vuelva al trabajo.
Um, as a first entry in Livejournal, I know this is a bit strange. It would be more proper a "Hello, my name is that and my hobbies are..." but I suppose that, if someone reads this is, is because she/he knows me, then we can proceed to the point XD.
Well, these days I've been working on the outline of the chapters of the Winter Dance of my spanish fic "Rose of Blood." Considering the entire vampiric nobility from around the world is going to meet there, and the political mess that is going to be, it has led me to wonder how the vampires organize their world (and make it up for the fic, of course).
We know that the vampiric world is pyramidal, with Levels A and B leading it. We know that, in times of the ancient Kurans, there was a a king who led the entire world and was later replaced by the Council of Elders. OK. But, who keeps order in the major Asian cities, or American's or Russian's, or South American's? We can assume that there are vampires all over the world, not only in the place/country where the action in VK is located (Japan or another country).
I suppose that the Council and the King Kuran acted as the High Court, judging major matters. I even think it could be inferred that each Council member would be chosen not only for family power, but by geographic influence, with each member as a leader of the vampire population of Eastern Europe, Africa, Mediterranean ...
I think that, in VK's case, it could be applied the structure of "courts" of the roleplaying game Vampire: the Masquerade: the world is divided into influence areas, each governed by an ancient vampire (known as the Prince ), which imposes his/her law on the rest of the vampires, younger and coming from different clans. Each of these courts are settled on a large human city, where the vampires have infiltrated all layers of power and the influence of these courts extends many miles and many smaller cities. The struggles and intrigues between courts to absorb cities to enhance their own area of influence, or even to overthrow other Princes, are usual. In the case of this roleplaying game, there is no authority that acts as a "last resort" to deal with conflicts, except the Camarilla, an organization of the oldest of each clan (different types of vampires ), but their concern is to hide the existence of vampires to humans, not to deal with political disputes.
Do you think that this structure might be applied to VK, especially now that the Council of Elders doesn't exists and there's still not a king? I think it could be credible that each of the noble families that we know, especially the most powerful ones (Ichijo, Aidos...) lead a vampire Court, a geographical area of influence comprising more or less states or cities (human) and is responsible to put order in the area. Actually, we once saw in the manga Lord Aido saying that he was going to handle some Level Cs that where creating trouble taking advantage of the Council's absence. Given that in VK the purebloods exists, we could think that each of them (the few that remain in the world) rule a number of courts, ensuring the order between them. The fact that a Level A was behind some courts, could prevent other purebloods to seek open conflict for supremacy, fearing the uncontrollable consequences of such confrontation. The order would be kept thanks to the balance of terror.
What is at stake in the chapter of the Dance in "Rose of Blood", and I think that, somehow, even in the manga, is who is the supreme leader, the High Court that had to set the major standards of behavior in the vampiric world and the rules of the relation with the human world. It is here where the positions would be divided between those who prefer that a pureblood holds that role or prefer a senate of families in the style of the old Council.
I suppose that the current positions in "Rose of Blood" (and maybe in the manga too) could be split between the nobles who want Kaname as king with the support of a senate composed of the leaders of the various courts ; those who prefer to Sara to be queen, either alone (but I think the whole night world is already suspicious of the concentration of power in one hand) or with the support of the remainder families of the former Council; and the bloc of Non-Aligned, that is, the vampires that are sick of a pyramidal society and believe that the courts ruled by nobles are more than enought to keep the order.
What do you think? I know that this is 100% political theory, but, considering what comes next in my fic and the mood that is taking the manga, I suppose that at, some point, we should start to learn how the vampires. organized themselves in daily life.
