Ely cathedral

Went to the city of Ely today to visit the cathedral and some of its outbuildings. Took the tour of the Octagon tower again, which is not just very cool, despite our retentively overly-protective guide, as you get to go into, and on top of, the cathedral roof, but accompanying us was the chaplain from my college, who went to boarding school on the cathedral's grounds and was able to get us access to some of the amazing medieval buildings people can't normally visit, but we were also accompanied by one of the former masters of my college, who is major experts on medieval buildings (and also very keen on plants, being perhaps -the- expert on medieval woodlands).

Also paid a visit to the outside of the Three Blackbirds, one of (or the) oldest brick-built houses in the country. Coincidentally, it happened to be for sale. If I only had a spare half-million pounds...
