Calling all AAA members and former members

I'm wondering if anyone who has used AAA has any opinions on their services. Positive/negative whatever. What do you think the services are worth, which ones have you used?

I've got a membership offer from AAA and am trying to decide whether I should accept it or reject it. (75,000 miles on my car might be helping me to ponder this question.)

We have it, we've used it almost exclusively for towing service. On the one hand, when we need them to tow or fix the car, they do show up - but they do not do it quickly. The fastest response I've ever had was just short of an hour, and that was inside the city limits, during the middle of the day - not during rush hour, and not a holiday.

I have had up to an hour.half wait for a tow. On the other hand, they do show up, and they will take it where you want it. Be warned - the basic service only covers a very SHORT tow. Like, 3.change miles. If you're in the middle of nowhere, the nearest station is probably 20+ miles, and you'd be paying for everything over those 3.change miles.

They also do travel information, we've used that a handful of times, but since we usually know where we're going we're just looking for what construction might be on the way. If we meandered a bit more it would probably be more useful to us. There's discount services for hotels, which so far I've only used once - and I think I could have gotten the same price with a webcoupon, so...

We have a 21 year old car. I kinda still think we need it. We also go on long trips across PA, where the exits are 20+ miles apart, so - yeah.
