Two of my sisters are about to have babies within a week of one another - both girls.
Got another dog a little over a week ago. A border collie/? mix that was a rescue. They found him and his litter mates on the side of the road in a box - it was hot and they were so dehydrated that it took several days of care to get them healthy again. His name is Dante.
He was really cute... until he started vomiting and not eating. Apparently, the pet adoption place gave us a dog that had ringworm, coccidia... and oh - Parvo!
So, not only has Dante been nearly killed by his previous negligent owners, he contracted a disease that has a 90% fatality rate.
Fortunately, we got him to the vet before he started vomiting blood.
He spent 5 days at the vet's, and we were able to take him home on Saturday.
He looks so emaciated now - he's got bug eyes, and he has no puppy fat left. You can feel his ribs, and see how deeply his stomach sinks in at the sides of his hips. Poor little guy only weighed 3.5 lbs when we checked him into the vet - we didn't weigh him when he got checked out.
He looks kind of like a gremlin at the moment - but we'll fix that.
Oh, yeah - school's good too.
