Someone for Everyone

I don’t understand why some people have this belief that there is someone for everyone. That seems ridiculous. Why would there be someone for everyone? I like to try to think of things from two perspectives, one religious and one not.

On the religious side I use the statement that religious people I know make, “God has a plan”. So I’ll make that the basis for my religious argument. Our unknowable Lord who is quite outside of our human understanding has some sort of plan. This plan is not known by any mere mortal. We don’t know what this plan really entails or even what the purpose of it is. At least I don’t. So in my opinion (purely opinion based purely off of guesses and observations) is that if God has this plan that doesn’t mean that the plan involves you with some other person. Maybe you just have to be alone. For what reason? I don’t know, some plan I guess. But there is no reason to automatically assume that you get someone if you believe God has a plan.

The other perspective is more in line with evolution. Science! In that case, well it is pretty clear that not everyone gets someone there. You can take your pick of Social Darwinism or whatever else there is for this one. For me this part is more about some people just don’t have the pure animal instinct to properly understand the mating habits of their species. It happens. I guess anyway. I mean my hamsters aren’t mating with anyone so sometimes you just don’t get to mate. Of course they are in little glass tanks separate from others of their kind. But don’t we all really create our own little glass tanks from our various psychosis?

So I don’t think of these things as negative, they are just things. Like Martians or video games or how much Clash of the Titans (the remake) sucked. They are just things to think about. Well, things I think about anyway. Just sometimes I hear other people lament that they don’t have a someone and they wonder where their someone is. Well, not everyone gets someone.
