Been a while since I posted and I should have done the wrap up when I got back, but... damn, two weeks ago now?... I got back from PolyCon and I must say, even though I had a minor illness on the last day, I had a blast. One of my more enjoyable cons out of the 18 that I've been to.
First off, Bad Movie Night: The Game was yet again a success, but once again, like has happened every year for the past several years, hooking up the equipment became a nightmare. Yes, the college provided us with AV equipment which was requested... but none of it went together. The wires were wrong, the equipment was old... Once again, I got started late. But once the movies were underway, it was awesome!
1. The Terror of Tiny Town - A black and white 1938 western musical with an all little person cast
2. Hell Comes to Frogtown - A terrible post-apocalyptic movie starring Roddy Rowdy Piper as one of the last fertile men on Earth
3. Die Hard Dracula - A horrific retelling of the Dracula tale that fails at being dramatic, comedic, scary, AND travelogue!
I was also introduced to an awesome game called Dixit. I am currently making plans to invite people over some day soon so I can play it. I was told it was a lot like Apples to Apples but it's more Balderdash... but with pictures. Beautiful, weird artwork. I came in dead last the one time I played but i had a great time playing it nonetheless.
Lunch Sunday afternoon disagreed with me, forcing me to leave the auctioneer's table and spend some quality time in the bathroom. When I came back, I sat at a table off to the side and just watched, I was too ill to go back to calling. So frustrating! Calling the auction is my favorite thing to do at the con!
I got to take home the painting. I wonder how many people in PolyCon are like me... I genuinely feel honored that I'm trusted with the painting! That there is a show of trust that PolyCon gives me that they let me take home this relic. Yeah, I may be making more out of this than I should, but I'm damn proud and honored nonetheless. Now if I can just get it hung in the living room...
