The WGA make a deal with a comic book publisher? Where'd THAT come from?

Today's big news for comics fans is that Marvel Studios struck a deal with the WGA allowing their superhero-themed projects to get back on track. That's interesting. I'm glad the deal was made, but I agree that they should extend the same courtesy to their own writers!

An interesting deal by Marvel Studios because it will only affect projects there and not at other studios.

I like your point about older comic creators who are getting no compensation for their reprinted work because that's a shame. All companies need to look after their creators because some do fall upon hard times.

-- to do ten seconds worth of research, you would have discovered that the WGA did NOT make a deal with "a comic book publisher." Marvel Studios (aka Marvel Productions) is a separate entity from Marvel Publishing. Marvel Studios doesn't and has never published comics, they are strictly an independent film/tv studio not tied directly to any major film studio...so like Lions Gate and United Artists and RKO and other indies, they were able to sign a separate agreement with the WGA not to make nice with comic writers, who have no stake in this one way or the other, but to keep their movies moving ahead in production.
