a HUGE thank you to ben to introducing me to my newest favorite ethnic food genre---el salvadorian!!! at this tiny little restaurant-ette out on division past 44th called "salvador" (i think). for under $6 you can get a combo plate- fried yuca root, plantain, tamale and choice of chicken or bean and cheese pupusa AND an additional pupusa.
pupusas are out of this world- like a fried pancake, but not and stuffed with yumminess: bean and cheese and jalapeno and cheese, topped with spicy salvadorian "coleslaw" and delicious salsa. MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm....
it's always exciting teying new foods, and doubly exciting to try new restaurants that you never knew existed. now i just need to find that one korean place i went with erin and toph...do either of you remember where that was?? also, if anyone knows of other funky/unique ethnic restaurants around g.r. lemme know.
