Well I'm at the end of August and the summer holiday, posting from an internet cafe. Here's a quick update on what I've been up to:

Shows with sabnack, pictures over at sabnack.com

New band, yet to decide on a name or drummer or vocalist, probable bassist, possible backing vocals from me and bassist. It's going to be dark, I'm going to concentrate on that area and try and get the stuff I feel strongly into music, a little less nice and a bit more immediate. It's going to be a black hole sweeping through the Osaka live scene and I'm more excited about it than anything else yet, I've found how to tap into a few creative energies more effectively and I'm not getting the endless blocks, I've come up with more in two weeks than the last year in terms of song ideas and parts.

Really doing nicely with Japanese, I don't want to be cocky so I won't say anything much but I'm really happy with my speaking and listening. Shame I haven't done any study all holiday, but at least I've been busy talking a lot. Made a few new friends, got closer to the ones I already have, lost a few going back to their respective homes, missing the old ones back home as much as ever and still waiting for more of you people to show up here!

Hopefully my aunt and uncle will send over some photos soon from when they came over(hint!) and I can post the highlights online.

My new apartment is doing very fine, I've got curtains and a TV and it's taking a bit more shape, I need to get a comfy bed because the sofa isn't quite up to the task. I'll be getting cable TV and broadband soonish (read in 17-40 days time), as well as for the first time ever my own landline. I'll try and post some times that it's convenient to call me when that comes along. New address, send me some email if you want to know it, or check over at facebook.

I tried to live off five pounds a day for 20 days but eventually found that things worked out better on 30 pounds a weekend on travel shows and beer and 10 pounds worth of food. My maths isn't what it quite was, I may have eaten more food than that. I'm in the best shape ever though, all that time with no money to go out and do stuff and a diet of meat, eggs and brown rice has kept me nicely toned and trim. Rarr.

My bike got stolen when I in the stone cold sober middle of the afternoon left the key in the lock for a few hours outside my apartment which I'm a bit miffed at but can't really blame on anyone other than myself. I'll be getting the same bike again I think tomorrow.

My sleep pattern has reverted to it's natural cycle, i.e. sleep all day, get up in the afternoon and stay up till 6 in the morning and I feel much more at home like that, although it all changes when I have to be in school in 27 hours time.

I watched all of 24 up to season 3 except the last disks of seasons 1 and 3 which are mysteriously missing from my friend's box set. My impressions: the body count is collossal, Jack Bauer is a maverick hero who doesn't play by the rulebook and the bad guys should really just shoot him on sight, and the endless hostage situations and terrorist tactics really make me wonder what the hell they can do with the next season. I also would really love to know how seasons 1 and 3 ended but that's besides the point.

There's a ridiculous number of photos I need to upload and sort through and annotate. Let's be honest, I'll never get round to catching up on all of it. You know what I look like. Just imagine me and Japanese stuff.
