The Luke Snyder 'As The World Turns' Primer!

Pretty much all of us are here as a result of seeing Van playing Luke Snyder on the daytime soap, As The World Turns. So, if you're brand new to the Van obsession or are just intrigued - or just want a grin *g* - here's a little primer to the show that Nel and I put together :D As this comm is all about Van, it focuses on the characters who interact with his character the most. There are a *lot* more characters and a lot more plotlines than the stuff mentioned here.

Luke and Noah
Luke: He seems like such a nice gay boy, but he's truly a little bitch (hee! \o/). Argumentative, pretty and outspoken, with moments of vulnerability that will melt your heart. Major plot lines lately: Really, really, wanting to have sex with Noah. What? That's totally a major plot line! Okay, okay...came out in 2006, met Noah late-ish last year. Almost killed by Noah's homophobic dad; ended up temporarily paralysed. Can now feel everything below his waist again! (luckily for Noah). Oh, and he only has one kidney.
Noah: Luke's boyfriend. Unfortunately without much of a personality so far, though a personality is hinted at when he loses his temper (which is good considering Luke's habit of being a little bitch). Seems to be a little shy and has a hard time expressing himself, leading to an adorable habit of writing his feelings down on cards for Luke. Major plot lines lately: Realising he was gay, after meeting Luke. Gay panicked, and tried to have a happy ever after with Maddie - but when you're gay, you're gay, and when you're Noah you can't keep your lips away from Luke :D Also found out his homophobic father murdered his mother when he was just a kid, and then said homophobic father tried to kill Luke. Yeah, he had a rough coming out.
Holden and Lily
Holden: Luke's adoptive father. A man too awesome for his hair, which can magically change color, a trait adoptively-inherited by his son, Luke. At first sight seems a little stiff and boring, but behind those unfortunate bangs is a man who loves his family more than anything else, and kicks serious ass in his efforts to keep them safe and happy. Oh, and he knew that Luke was gay for as long as Luke did. Major plot lines lately: Accused of murdering his wife's boyfriend, Dusty, (...yeah), getting back together with said wife.
Lily: Luke's Mom. Unfortunately stupid over obvious things, but awesome in her own right. Occasionally hallucinates dead people. Major plot lines lately: Getting it on with Dusty (a guy), despite being married to Holden. When Dusty was murdered, Holden suspected Lily was the killer, so let everyone else think he was the murderer. Aww, bless! (it wasn't either one of them).
Lucinda: Luke's Grandma, on his mother's side. Kicks asses and takes names while giving grandma's everywhere a good name. There isn't a manipulative bitch (male or female) that she can't give a good tongue flaying. Major plot lines lately: kicking cancer's butt, and grinding it into the ground. \o/ Generally being awesome.
Kevin: Allegedly Luke's best friend, though we honestly don't know why. Likes drinking, lying and having sex without a condom. Doesn't seem overly concerned about Luke when he almost dies a couple of times, but in all fairness he may have been too drunk to notice. Oh yeah, and Luke was in love with him too. Yay. Major plot lines lately: Not a main cast member. Last major plot thing was thanking Luke for saving him from drowning - but by that point he'd already called Luke a faggot. SO LONG, SUCKER. LET THE DOOR HIT YOUR ASS ON THE WAY OUT.
Colonel Mayer: Lovingly known as Colonel Creepy/Colonel Psycho (or Psycho Stalker/Murderer to those who know him well), Noah's father who supposedly did something good for Noah at some point, but we just see him kill Noah's mom and almost kill Noah's boyfriend, Luke (YES, *LUKE*!). Needs personality transplant, which can hopefully be supplied in prison. Major plot lines lately: Not actually in the show lately, but has recently sent his son a letter. Noah managed to make himself read it once, but then it got stolen.
Maddie: Way too awesome for the token girlfriend. In fact, she easily has more personality than Noah, the token boyfriend. But alas, she was not a gay boy, so she moved away to college. Major plot lines lately: GONE GONE GONE D: But! Before she went, she was Noah's girlfriend until the whole finding out he was gay thing. Understandably upset, but very, very cool about it, just the same. Her previous boyfriend ended up in prison, and broke up with her while he was still inside. Not had the best of luck with guys ;) Great friends with Luke.
Henry: Maddie's older brother, very awesome and FLAMINGLY...straight. Apparently married. To a woman. Huh. Main plot lines lately: Erm. Owns a diner?
Damian: Maltese mafioso (do these people know what kind of a place Malta is? Doubtful.) who only wants Luke for his money. Oh yeah, and he's Luke's biological dad. Whatever. Main plot lines lately: Manipulated/tried to kidnap Luke in 2006, but thankfully he's now out of the picture.
Jade: Swinging wildly between manipulative bitch and aggressively supportive friend. She just wants to be loved! We just want to smack her (and we cheered when Lily did)! Eventually turned out to actually be Lily's niece, after pretending to be Lily's niece for a while. Major plot lines lately: DO NOT CARE.
Nathalie and Faith: Luke's younger sisters. They're cute and tiny. And cute. And they get a line every once in a while! Plus, Girls Rule! Major plot lines lately: Being cute and tiny.
