Hot Celebrity Meme

Feb 18, 2010 20:41

Ganked this meme from antigonesgift, and I won't tell you how long I've spent agonizing over the choices. I have tweaked it ever so slightly to suit my um, needs.

Hot Celebrity Meme
1. Make a list of your fav 10 male & 10 female celebrtities
2. Post one picture of each hottie and explain why you love them
3. Tag 5 people to do the same

I'm not tagging anyone. Do it if you want, don't if you don't want.

I'll preface this by saying that I strove hard to go for celebrities I liked and not just characters. I like a lot of characters but I don't necessarily like the actors who play them. So to qualify I felt I had to like the actual person. Some of that criteria was being willing to see a movie (or whatever) solely because that person was in it, or seeking out old movies they had bit parts in, etc. I could also probably easily add ten men to this and easily remove five of the women. I do like a lot of female characters, I just don't tend to care as much about the actresses. I'm not sure why this is, but I suspect it's because men are allowed to be themselves more when they're famous, whereas women tend to have to conform to certain celebrity/Hollywood bullshit and that puts me off. Also, there are almost no female singers I like to listen to, so. I couldn't really go that route. Whatever. DON'T JUDGE ME OKAY.

I also probably forgot some really obvious people. That's the way it goes!

So, in no real particular order . . .

The Guys:

01.) Seth Green

Seth Green is basically exactly who I want to be. He's just very inspirational and a guy very similar to myself, so it's nice to see how, if my life had been different, I could have potentially had his success. Why that also means I crush on him is strange, but it's true of a lot of my favorite male celebs.

02.) Michael J. Fox

Mike and I go way back. He's probably one of my earliest celeb crushes and one of the most enduring. I suspect it's similar to Seth's appeal too. I feel somewhat similar to him, and I admire him a lot. Unlike a lot of celebs, my love for him seems to have just grown over the years instead of diminishing. He's probably my favorite male actor all around.

03.) George Harrison

He was in a little band once and put out a couple of nice albums. He's also okay to look at. Snerk.
(AKA The hottest male on this list. The other nine are shocked and pleased to be listed with him.)

04.) Frazer Hines

Another one I feel very similar to. I'd love to grow up and be Frazer, except for that by the time he was my age he was already quite successful and established, ahahaha. Oh well. He's one of those celebrities that when you meet just becomes more awesome instead of less. I like that.

05.) Koyasu Takehito

This is the place Alan Rickman would take on everyone else's list. I do love Alan Rickman, BTW, but Koyasu is the Voice of God for me. He is probably the #1 celebrity on this list whose stuff I have tracked down to watch solely because he performed on it. He's also massively hot to me.

06.) Alan Tudyk

I have watched some pretty outrageous things because Tudyk is in them. He's also one of those celebs I identify with and wish I was. Once upon a time he was tied with Nathan Fillion in this slot, but I realized that I'd still go out and watch something just because Tudyk is in it, but, despite my love for Nathan, I won't watch stuff he's in just because he's in it. Alan ftw. (Also, aren't his eyes amazing in this picture?)

07.) Will Smith

For me, Will is like the ultimate pivot. I don't see a movie he's in and go OMG MUST SEE it, but I know that if I do I'll at least enjoy him in it. He has many times been the deciding factor of whether I'll go see a movie when it comes out or wait until it's on TV. I saw Hancock for this man.

08.) Michael Palin

The newest addition to this list, but the number of TV shows and films I've watched already to see him in is pretty astounding. It's surprising because I didn't intitally expect to care that much about him (he was very much "Michael Plain" to me originally!), but he's a very good actor and I wish he'd done more television.

09.) Paul Darrow

I have watched some truly awful shit to see this man's scenes. I have even rewatched some truly awful shit to see them again. I really wish he had been in more television and movies, especially in the 70s/80s, but I have always enjoyed his performances, even if the shows he's been in are awful. Darrow makes this list when Michael Keating doesn't, solely, I think, because Keating has been in almost nothing else. Really not fair, but there you go.

10.) Ewan McGregor

Ewan, like Will, is one of those actors that, while I won't go see a movie for him, generally I know if he's in it, I'll at least enjoy his performance if nothing else. This is very true, and he is the lead in many of my favorite movies. Also, I found a picture of him snogging Jim Carrey while researching him for this, and that just makes him even more awesome. Plus, he's Scottish. A++

ETA:

11.) Al Stewart

Okay, babel fussed at me for not including Al. I thought about it, but decided against it because I don't think he's that hot, even though I do find him attractive. Anyway, she's convinced me and I do love him and go out of my way to see him and listen to him pretty exclusively musicially wise, lately, so. If anyone should be here, I suppose it should be him. Forgive me, Al. XD

The Ladies:

01.) Jane Asher

Not only is she absolutely gorgeous, a talented actress and otherwise successful, but she's the damn classiest lady I've ever has the pleasure of researching. She's pretty much the only ex-girlfriend/wife associated with the Beatles from the 1960s that hasn't sold her story, and it's because of her pride. She basically can't get better.

02.) Kate Winslet

I have enjoyed every thing I've ever seen Kate Winslet in (even if, in the case of Jude, it crushed my heart). She's very much like Will Smith or Ewan McGregor for me. I just always enjoy her performances. She's also very true to herself, her body and her fans in a way that a lot of female celebrities aren't, and I admire that so much.

03.) Astrid Kirchherr

Astrid is really only famous due to her photography of the Beatles and her connection to them in the early 1960s, but I don't care. She still counts and has one of the most tragic love stories I've ever read. I find her just timelessly beautiful and mysterious. I wish she had a happier ending, but the fact that it is so bittersweet is part of what makes her so amazing.

04.) Eric Idle

There's no lie in the fact that I enjoy Eric best when he's in drag or playing queer roles. He does them so well that it really opens my mind to really radical ways of thinking, and I love that. His confidence in his ability to crossdress without making it into a stereotype seems to be a rare one. Also, the first non-Python thing I tracked down to see him in was because it was a predominantly drag role. Ilu Eric, but especially when you're a hot woman.

05.) Linda Hamilton

I feel a bit bad about putting this one on here because while I do love her, I really only love her role as Sarah Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Sadly, I think Linda is less happy about her stereotyping for this role, because everything else I've ever seen her in has been a let down, ahahaha. Oh well.

06.) Katie McGrath

Okay, I've only seen her in Merlin, but I feel she is largely wasted there and is easily one of the best things about the show. I hope she continues on to be successful, but isn't swallowed and spit out by Hollywood. I find her incredibly gorgeous and would love to follow her as she progresses. She is also incredibly down to Earth as far as I can tell. I hope she never loses sight of that.

07.) Sarah Brightman

This is pretty much the only female singer I ever listen to, and even that's pretty rare. I was a bit obsessed with her as a very young teen though, and even saw her in concert at age thirteen. I likely would have seen Repo! The Genetic Opera without her involvement, but that was massively icing on the cake.

08.) Lindsay Duncan

I pretty much only watched Lost In Austen for her, and the degree to which my excitement rose when she guest starred on Doctor Who convinced me that I really enjoy her a lot more than I had realized. I found her character one of the most surprising and amazing in HBO's Rome. She's also older and still totally freaking hot. Wowza.

09.) Tricia Helfer

This is another one that I feel bad about listing, as I've only ever seen her in Battlestar Galactica. However, I have seen her in interviews and it surprises me how down to Earth and realistic she is. She looks so much like a typical catty, shallow/vapid super model, but I get the impression she's really a big ol' nerd. I may be proven wrong about this someday, but until then, ilu Tricia. I should try to track down some of her other work. Also, check out her Animal Rescue!

10.) Emilie de Ravin

Okay, look, I had to get to ten! I've only ever seen Emilie de Ravin in LOST. I'd like to see her in more adult roles, but I think she's still on LOST, which I stopped watching, so she may not have as many things to her name yet. Anyway, I think she's uh. Pretty. Yup, that's about it.

Gah, that's awful. SORRY FOLKS. I'd've done much better listing characters instead of celebrities. XDXDXD Anyway. Hope someone enjoys this for all the damn mental strain it was for me to put it together. XD
