My nephew isn't doing super well in reading/writing (he's in second grade, age seven), so we've been encouraging him to do more reading and writing. Knowing I'm an artistic writerly type, he asked if he could write a story with me. We'd just seen "The Princess and the Frog" so I suggested something like "The Crocodile and Firefly Go to Disneyland" and he was like, "How about Van and Jaden Meet the Beatles"? Ahahaha, how could I say no to that? We never did get around to the actual story because he insisted we do a "bubble chart" first with Title, Characters, Setting, etc. each in their own little bubble (idk I wasn't taught this way) and then got distracted by drawing. I helped him with spelling, but I made him write everything.
Anyway, I doubt this is of interest to most of my flist, but it amused me so I thought I'd share.
The bubble chart:
Van, Jaden and the Beatles singing "Yellow Submarine" on stage:
(He drew me and him--insisting on giving himself 'ghost legs.' Note: I am not actually left-handed. I drew the Beatles, but he colored them.) Hopefully we haven't messed up the timeline too much by teaching the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" in 1964.
And all of us in a Yellow Submarine:
I drew the heads in the windows, but he drew the ship. XD
I think the funniest bit is that he's never even seen the Yellow Submarine movie, though I have showed him Help!
Anyway.
I'm off to play some Atheist Games or something. I don't even know, some sort of game night, but it sounds fun. And I'll be getting payment for some art commissions finally, which is the biggest draw to go. Ha.
