Resident Parking Scheme Plan for Hillsborough

I received one of the leaflets through my letterbox yesterday, and I can safely say it ruined my day. I will be voting against, and am probably going to write letters to whoever will listen ("no" campaign ( Read more... )

As we haven't been told any details of the proposed scheme I can only presume it is going to be the same as the other schemes in the city so any info/presumptions are purely based on those.
To be honest there is plenty to do down Hillsborough with people parking where they shouldn't, without having a residents scheme to contend with as well.

I do have to say though, every time we have been around the area where your rd is and someone has come to talk to us, they have always said how pleased they are to see us as they are sick of people parking in stupid places(mainly on the 24hr clearways) that cause them problems when trying to get into their road.

We don't just cover Hillsborough on match days I was on there last week and it wasn't Saturday, we dispatch vans to that area on a regular basis but it also covers Outibridge, Worrall, Wisewood, Stocksbridge and Chapeltown.

From what I have heard we will be recruiting more wardens but I believe that will be to cover the new Highfields scheme and the extension of the Ecclesall pay and display scheme. We haven't heard anything about the Hillsborough scheme yet so I don't know what date the council are expecting to implement the scheme if it goes ahead.
I don't know what price they have given you for the permits but from what I have been told the price of the permits have been reduced to £10 per year and neighbours won't be able to buy permits for other peoples cars, you have to have proof that the vehicle is registered at that address.
To be honest I'd be more than happy to pay £10 to stop the people from the other side of the main road from sticking their 2 sodding cars in front of my house thus making me walk backwards and forwards from the bottom of the street with great big sacks of cat litter on my shoulder and 15 bags of shopping from Asda.*rant over*
Visitor permits are however available for all households even those without a vehicle, I'm not sure of the price but someone mentioned they are £5 for 25 don't quote me on this as we don't deal with that side of things.
As with the other schemes I presume there will be spaces where there are no restrictions whether that will be on each street I don't know.
I suggest with your NO vote you also put in a question about whether the pay and display on the main road will be dual purpose eg pay and display AND permit holders if it isn't then yes it will be very awkward for you on a Saturday.
Weekdays will most likely be resricted hours 8am-6:30am outside of these times anyone can park.
If they are proposing it to be like the Ecclesall scheme then the residential roads SHOULD be either dual purpose or permit holders only NOT pay and display only.
Even though you are voting no I would definately get them to define where and if permit holders can park on the main roads before any discussions go ahead because that is going to be the bug bear.

And I only wish we could pay £1:40 per day to park while we are at work as opposed to the £8+ if we can't find any free parking spaces in the area where our offices are or £17 bus fare each week..
