It's pretty funny how people constantly go out of their way to abide by the rules of propriety, and avoid any form of contact with people they don't know. 'It's rude to stare' and other such nonsense is spoonfed to us by society, and we end up miserable little sods, afraid to look into someone's eyes on public transport. If any such eye contact, or, GOD FORBID, physical contact does occur, we must promptly turn away in embarrassment, and shift the offending body part as far away from the unfortunate victim of your terrible rudeness as humanly possible. If the offender is, in fact, not yourself, you must promptly commmence giving dirty looks and shifting 'subtly' away to avoid any such contact occurring again. We withdraw so far into ourselves really, it's a bloody wonder we haven't all imploded.
