What Friends Are For

CJ sighed softly and tugged at the collar of his shirt as he looked in the mirror. "I look like one of those Princes you see flouncing about in animated movies," he grumbled softly.

Honor laughed lightly as she slipped up behind him, blue eyes and blond hair appearing in the mirror over his right shoulder as she rested her chin on it. Her arms slid around his waist to hug him as she smiled. "You do not. For one, they wear tights." One hand slide down his side and along his hip before curling to rest on his thigh. "And these are definitely pants."

His eyes darkened a little at the touch, watching that hand's path in the mirror before his gaze flickered up to meet hers in the mirror. "Tell me again why we can't just have a quiet night where I get to pin you to every flat surface as my present?"

She smirked as she leaned to kiss his throat gently. "Because for one, our daughter would be severely hurt that she didn't get to spend tonight with her wonderful father." Her hand squeezed his thigh gently. "And because the Queen arranged this in your honor. It's rare for her to be so aware of humans, but you are my husband and would be King should I ascend the throne. It looks good for all of us, for the people to get to know you."

His features softened at her first reason, even as he shivered at the kiss. "We wouldn't want to disappoint Hope," he murmured softly. Sometimes it was hard to believe she was already six years old. That he'd been this happy for seven years now. The squeeze to his thigh interrupted his thought process as he gave a low sound. "Keep that up and we'll be late and you'll be all disheveled," he growled in an all male way.

"No, we don't want to disappoint Hope." She smirked darkly at him as her fingers played lightly as they moved to his hip, random patterns and shapes. "I won't look near as disheveled. I'm in a dress, after all."

He turned and caught her in a deep kiss that had her moaning softly as her body melted against his a little. "That just sounds like an incentive and a challenge rolled into one."

Honor's hand slid to his neck and she drew him towards the desk in the room. Using a bed really would have her looking like they'd just fucked and while that would be the case she wanted them looking at least halfway cleaned up when they arrived. "Might be," she murmured as she continued the kiss and her teeth tugged at his lower lip.

CJ helped lift her onto the desk, fingers dipped to help push her dress up her legs. There's a low sound when a knock on the door interrupts them though. His fingers sooth her dress down her legs though he doesn't move from where he's pinned her on the desk. "Who is it?"

"It's Glash. And Hope." A soft voice murmured through the door.

Honor smiled as she lean and kissed CJ softly. "Tonight, love, you'll get all of me you can stand and more." She pushed his shoulder gently so she could slip off the desk, though she wrapped an arm around his to keep him close. "Come in, Glash. Please."

The door opened and before Glash could get through the door the blond bundle of energy bolted through the door with a bright "Happy birthday, Daddy!"

CJ laughed softly and he shifted forward a step from Honor and scooped his daughter up, kissing her hair gently. "Thank you, Princess. Don't you look pretty."

Honor smiled more as she moved to Glash and laced their arms, leaning to kiss her friend's cheek gently. "Thank you for helping to get her ready. She's quite the handful when she's excited."

Hope snuggled into CJ with a grin. "Thank you! Kaelin did my hair!"

Glash leaned into the kiss with a bright smile. "You're more than welcome, Honor. I love spending time with you and your daughter. Though I am not sure I am able to attend this night."

CJ's fingers slid gently along the intricate braiding that made up his daughter's hair gently. "And what a lovely job he did. We'll have to thank him later."

"I love spending time with you too, Glash." Honor's head tilted as she frowned softly. "Why?"

Hope leaned into the touch before she rested her head on CJ's shoulder. "Cake soon, right Daddy?"

Glash smiled, though it was a little sad around the edges. "The Queen is making Kaelin work tonight, and you know I do not like attending these things without him at my side."

CJ hugged his daughter with a soft chuckle. "Soon. Not that you need sugar, already too quick."

Honor frowned more as she shook her head. "You go get dressed. I'll take care of it. None of my friends work when we're celebrating."

CJ moved with Hope over to Glash and Honor, look curious because he'd missed the conversation. "What are you taking care of?"

Glash smiled softly at Honor, "Are you sure? I do not wish anyone trouble."

Honor hugged Glash to her. "It's not any trouble. You are like a sister to me, Glash. And that makes Kaelin a brother. And as family, you both should be there with us." She turned to CJ. "The Queen is trying to make Kaelin work tonight instead of come to the party for you."

CJ frowned himself. Kaelin and CJ had become odd friends, bonding over fairly normal guy things while Kaelin taught Hope how to ride. He didn't work in the stables anymore, not since he'd patched things up with his father, though he still loved to hang out there occasionally because of a black mare that frequented the stables. "I want him there tonight."

Glash smiled more at CJ's words, grateful for the both of them as she curled against Honor some. "Thank you. Both of you."

Honor kissed Glash's temple gently. "You're more than welcome, Glash. "You go get dressed for the party. We'll make sure he's there and dressed just for you."

CJ nodded, a smile along his features as he rested his chin on Hope's hair gently. "We're happy to do it."

Glash hugged Honor with a bright sound before she did as told and moved to her room to get dressed.

Honor moved to kiss CJ. "You get our girl to the party. I'll be right there after I talk to Kaelin and the Queen."

He deepened the kiss a little with a smile. "You're really sweet."

She gave a soft sound into the kiss before she pulled back, eyes dark. "I know. And you'll get to know that better later."

CJ chuckled darkly, their daughter snuggled against his chest and none the wiser on the words between her parents. They both moved to leave the room, though they parted at a hallways so Honor could get their friend out of work and CJ moved to the grand ballroom of the Palace for the party.
