Holiday Jewelry and Ornament Commissions!

Dec 08, 2013 12:19

All righty, everyone, I'm opening up my beading cabinet of doom, prepping my clay, and laying out my paints and paint brushes. I'm opening things up for holiday commissions--and not just jewelry things either!

Jewelry:
But I am going to start with jewelry first.

I have my usual jewelry commission page here in a google document where you can copy/paste it, fill it out, and send it back to me in an email (vampwrite@gmail.com), or you can use that as a guideline as we bang out what you'd like and such. To share what I've done for others in the past, one commission I did previously was an Achievement Hunter/Red vs Blue-related bracelets (which can be seen with explanation here!) Another (well, technically two) was for a necklace, bracelet, and four sets of earrings (with a bonus because I couldn't decide and liked both.) I've also made a zipper pull for my grandmother so she could see the zipper inside her purse (but this was a gift). For all my commissions, I had an approximate price in mind, set about putting it all together, and then gave the final price plus pictures. Things would take a bit longer if I had to go purchase any parts that I didn't have on hand, but depending on the size, complexity, and materials used, the price will vary, as will the time to construct the order.

I've also gotten into steampunk jewelry, as can be seen with this earring set, necklace, and choker I made as a birthday gift for Maggie. Steampunk stuff will be more expensive thanks to materials being a little harder to find, and as for time...man, I lost track. I think it was well over a week.

I'm also still making crane earrings, and...the origami cranes have a bigger meaning to me now. My grandmother had taught me how to properly fold them, and I could probably fold one blindfolded. I'd always seen them up and around her home--never the same ones--but never put much thought to them being there. After she died in mid-September, I finally learned what she did with them. She made them all the time and brought them to the hospital where she worked as a nurse for...goodness, more than forty years, I think, and gave them to her patients in the oncology ward. I still stand by my goal to make a thousand of these little cranes and donate part of the proceeds to leukemia research. Maybe the money can help find a cure so someone else can spend more time with their loved one.

Right now, I have eight color choices for origami paper. Once I run out of those, then that's it, I'll have to move on to a different design. Here these are for size comparison, as well as here in a finished earring design (and here as well.) Each one is coated with a gloss finish to help preserve them and keep their shape, and come with silver beads and swarovski crystal beads to accent the crane. I can make them dangle longer than that, just ask~ A pair of crane earrings, since it's the holidays, is $30 $20 + estimated $5 shipping.

Ornaments:
I love ornaments. I have been making ornaments every year for...goodness, the past eight years, possibly longer. And even if people aren't too big into the holiday season, I hope by giving them something I've made, people can see the things I've made for them and know how much I love and adore them.

Plus let's face it...I love making fandom-related ornaments (heck, just fandom-related things in general). Hallmark's not going to have things for the things I love, so I might as well make something myself!

Ornaments I've made in the past
Starting with a couple oldies, there are these, which are translucent so the lights on the tree will illuminate them a bit. There were other designs I did along with those two, but I don't have photos of them here right now.

Another one was this Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle-inspired ornament I made for a friend named Cole. My favorite thing about it is still the mini-Mokona near the top. The little bugger was made out of this flexible clay stuff so I didn't have to worry about its ears breaking off or something happening to it over the years. The feather itself is made of translucent clay.

Now these Doctor Who ones actually have served two purposes! I made two sets of these, one of which is actually a necklace and charm set I made for Therissa. I kept the other set and turned them into ornaments for a little tree I have. And if it's hard to tell from the picture, the bowtie, fezz, TARDIS, 3D glasses and sonic screwdriver are all within an inch of length!

Hand-painted these RvB/Project Freelancer ornaments, and layered the paint in a way so that the Freelancer symbol can be translucent if lit from the back. Of course, the pictures of the ones for Wash and North don't show that, but trust me, they ~glow~. (And if you're wondering about that left top purple one next to North and South's? WELL, that's for Doc. Historically, he's had the pill symbol (thank you, Halo 2 engine), but...it didn't feel like an appropriate decoration for an ornament. So, purple on purple (and the lighter purple can be for O'Malley/Omega.)

Now this one is a commission, namely an ornament of a Stargate. Specifically, one from the SGA era, and let me tell you...every single one of those symbol thingies are handpainted with a little ball-shaped modeling tool I have, and if I had a microscopic brush, I could've been even more precise. But you know, I couldn't be more proud of this. This took a lot of work, but man, just look at this thing! The front, the back (not done too heavily because I didn't want to obstruct the middle since the middle has light shining through. It isn't a Stargate if it doesn't have the funky water-effect.

And lastly is something from a fandom that only a few people would get, and if I had more space and all the time in the world, I'd throw in even more references into this Cabin Pressure ornament. As you go higher into the sky, the crystals go from a royal blue to clear, and GERT-I the plane is the anchor for a yellow car to play Yellow Car (one of Arthur's many games), and a lemon for the crew to play The Travelling Lemon. I made a few of these and I swear, GERT-I grew each time. (I'm still kicking myself for forgetting windows along the fuselage, but perhaps it's better for the travellers using MJN's services if they don't see where they're going.)

Payment Options:
Unfortunately, I don't do paypal. I haven't had it working for a long time now. However, I'll take check, or Visa gift card (doesn't necessarily have to be Visa, it could be a gift card online like from Discover or something) if you aren't comfortable sending check in the mail. If you really must do paypal, let me know and we'll work something out!

Have any questions? Don't be afraid to comment here or email me! I really do appreciate the help and if I can make pretty things for friends and other people to wear, then all the better.

By the way, the latest I can take orders if you want things in time for Christmas is December 18th. The USPS has advised that if I want packages to get to their destinations before Christmas is to send things by the 20th (and I'll need a couple days to do orders). Now, if getting something in for Christmas isn't an issue, then no problem! I'll take orders no matter what day it is.

commissions, let me make you something beautiful, ornaments, christmas, jewelry
