[Giuliana] In Memorium (Jan 1, 2011)

Jan 01, 2011 22:25

The moon is a bare sliver of light hanging in the sky, the night air crisp, but not as cool as it has been, not that Giuliana particularly cares. She prefers the waning moon, though temperature bears little weight on her nightly actions unless she plans to encounter mortals. One must dress properly for the temperature to blend in, after all.

She glances sideways at Cecilia, walking quietly next to her, feet bare on the stone floor of the cavern. Both of them wear white gowns off the shoulders and flowing about their thin frames, loose red hair around their shoulders, matching diamonds hanging from their throats. They could almost be mortal sisters, for all their likeness.

The triple moon pendant hangs low from the black cord around Giuliana's neck, resting against her lower sternum, the only difference in their adornments, and she presses her hand to it for a moment, feeling it dig into her flesh, distracting her from the buzzing in her head. Cecilia's proximity always does this now, this tense, angry, buzzing in her head, and it takes everything she has not to turn on her broodmate to end it.

The two of them link hands as they reach the edge of the pool of water in the cavern, and they look at one another before taking a seat there, heedless of the soil staining their clothes. Silence fills the air between them, no words are needed, they both know why they're there.

Bennet.

She'd had a dream about him last night.  He came to her, spoke to her, and his words still resonate in her mind.  "You are not alone. I left you with the things you needed...the people you needed. You're strong... I'm proud of you."

One year after the death of their beloved and terrifying sire, the one who created them and molded them with a velvet gloved fist into what they are now. The new year signals the time for new goals, resolutions, and a remembrance of the past one. For hours, the two sit, side by side in silence. Eyes fixed on the sky, minds melded in telepathic unity, they meditate, clearing their minds. The shadows shift around them as the sliver of light moves across the sky. When it reaches the point that the opening in the cavern ceiling no longer exposes it, the two look at one another again.

"It is time."

They shift into kneeling positions, and in unison, sink fangs into their own right wrists, allowing their vitae to drip down and mingle between them. Giuliana speaks softly, a prayer to Hecate entreating Her to look favorably upon Bennet in the next life. Cecilia then speaks, invoking a veneficia to Vesta, Goddess of the Hearth, and a request to guide and bond the two broodmates in the coming year. Once the simple rite is done, they meet eyes.

From the shadows, their guardian watches approvingly.
