Giuliana hung up the phone from her third call with Alder Prince Cassio that night, pointedly ignoring the impressed looks from the other Invictus standing by. Aidan had already asked her after the first call why the Admired Warminister had her cell phone number and was calling her, and her response was a casual shrug, a comment that he's her great grand-uncle, and then she slowly drifted away from the group to continue her conversation.
The issue that had prompted his call was
a simple misunderstanding. Somehow, a discussion about the chances that Liberty Stone would show up in Orlando with the rest of the representatives of Tampa that night, and bring about some sort of threat to Prince Saunier in the process, and that Lord Archon Fraley would likely respond with violent measures.... had gotten misconstrued, and a rumor had reached Felipe's ears that Lord Fraley himself was planning to come to Orlando to attack him.
Giuliana's shock at hearing this was short-lived as she quickly figured out how the rumor had formed, and got it cleared up before anyone did anything in response. Her hesitance at following the unknown Nosferatu who'd been named as Sheriff of Orlando was overcome by a burning desire to meet with the elusive Voodoosaint Prince, and the Sheriff came bringing a supposed summons from Felipe. Keeping her distance, she followed him cautiously, unable to spot Aidan nearby.
When she entered the building, the man standing before her was not Felipe. A quick assessment of his aura, however, revealed that not all was as it appeared, and Felipe's mannerisms and the fact that he was first to bring up the confusion about Lord Fraley's intentions quickly convinced the Mekhet that Felipe was indeed the one she was speaking to. She left the meeting both pleased and disappointed. The Acolyte Prince had a very dim view of the First Estate in general after multiple failures of her covenantmates in Orlando, but he did express that she is one of the few he values and respects.
Diamondtrim, on the other hand, was a study in conflict. She'd begun watching his aura after her first viewing of it last week, astounded by the multitude of emotional flux it revealed. It was almost as if he were mortal, and in a high state of mental imbalance. She wished Bennet were still around so she could ask him about what she saw. He'd been a psychiatrist, among other things, and would know how best to handle it.
In the meantime, Giuliana had found that bribery worked pretty well with the unpredictable Daeva. She'd offered him a bottle of lacrima from her private supply, given to her over the past half century by Lucien, if he didn't cause problems in Orlando. Despite the fact that she frequently had to intervene in his pursuit of a ghoul present at the gathering(the girl was owned by a local Carthian who obviously had no control over his property, she'd said in front of numerous Kindred that she was looking to get embraced and hadn't decided between Mekhet and Daeva) she'd gotten numerous comments that Diamondtrim was particularly well-behaved compared to normal.
This caused her to raise an eyebrow, but she accepted it at face value. In her view, his main objective was to keep her on edge. By the end of the night, she'd decided that Jachin is going to have to teach her modern innuendo, because she simply has no idea what half of Diamondtrim says really means.
