Ohtori knew it was going to be a very bad day from the moment he rolled out of bed. It was overcast and cloudy outside and he'd missed the bus and would have to run to work. Atobe-san was not exactly tolerant of tardiness, and he'd had an inkling for some time now that Jules only tolerated him, so it was better not to make matters worse.
He'd run as fast as he could, managing to make it in to work on time only to be greeted by a very sour looking man. At least this time he hadn't slipped and run into Atobe, ruining another suit...
He spoke to the man, asking if everything was alright. The business man replied in a language Ohtori had never heard before, but it was obvious he was upset about something. After several long minutes and a near anxiety attack the man spotted a taxi, pulled out his umbrella and left.
NOW he was late. Ohtori winced as he spotted the clock and dashed into the elevator, accidentally bumping a cart and getting scalding hot coffee spilled on his pants. He hated Mondays!
Atobe tapped his fingers on the desk and frowned. Ohtori was late, very late. "Jules!" Atobe was already in a foul mood and this was not helping matters. Jules came to his side and started rubbing his shoulders, a worried look on he face as she reminded him of his blood pressure.
"Im fine, Jules. Figure out where the hell he is and tell him his ass better be in my office in two seconds or I'll kill him." He flopped into his chair and spun to look out over the sky line of Tokyo.
No sooner had the words 'I'll kill him,' been uttered and the silver haired teen slid, literally, into the office with a loud squeak from wet shoes and an awkward half stumble that made his left ankle hurt as he righted himself.
"I'm so sorry I'm late! I missed my ride and it was raining and there was this mean yelling man in the lobby-" He bowed quickly, looking like pure, soggy misery and half expecting to be fired on the spot. The coffee in his lap had at least cooled, if he had to find something to be optimistic about.
"Jules out." Atobe shooed her from the room . "Ohtori, sit." Atobe turned in his chair and pulled up to the wide oak desk he had. "My reports are late, calls missed, dry cleaning not picked up and now I'm listening to your excuses." His voice rose with each accusation. "Are you even serious about this job?!" He stood quickly, wanting to reach over and slap him.
Atobe had too much stress today, his Father was visiting the office and he needed everything perfect. Today was not a day to cross him.
He knew that tone, Ohtori sat down quickly only hesitating because he might still be damp. As Atobe's voice rose, Ohtori shrunk more and more into the seat. He didn't like the feeling he was getting, it was almost like the fear he'd felt the first time he met Renji and was pinned to a wall and threatened.
"I-I'm very serious- I'll get right on it...."
"You'd better. Everyone's ass is on the line today and so far you're the only one who managed to screw up." Atobe released some displaced anger on the young assistant. "And what in god's name have you done to your pants? Pissed yourself?" He was about to shout for Jules to have a new pair picked up. Couldn't have stains for Daddy's visit.
The teen leaned back in the seat, exhibiting the sort of slumped posture any member of the canine family would when faced with a threat of that magnitude. "I-I had coffee spilled on me." Ohtori's cheeks were burning and his fingers were digging into the arms of the chair just a bit. He just had this feeling something really bad was going to happen- there was something darker behind the humiliation and fear.
"Moron. It's like you've reverted back to that idiot boy who ran into me when we first met." He scoffed. "Do you even realize what's happeneing today, how important it is that YOU are here to do your job?" Atobe's tone was high and accusing again as he spat words, not noticing how the other cowered, he was used to that.
"P-please stop yelling, it's going to be ok-" he scrambled to try and get the yelling to stop- it was starting to really give him a headache that was traveling all along his spine. Choutarou didn't like the feel of his heart trying to race right out of his chest. "I can fix it..."
"You're damn right you'll fix it." Atobe was still shouting and had no plans of stopping anytime soon.
Everything was starting to hurt, badly. The teen couldn't seem to keep control over things any more- it was all just way too much. He tried to be a good employee, good person, and try to make everything work out.
Choutarou made a small whimpering sound and curled inward into himself like his stomach was hurting, his hands rose and gripped the sides of his head over his ears. "S-stop-" It felt so much like that exhiliration and agony right before the full moon, but it was early in the morning and the sun was out.
It seemed even the good natured boy had his limit to stress, when he looked up again in the midst of Atobe's angry tirade his eyes were completely black as were his nails, his ears had extended and were white and tipped in black and he was definitely sitting on his tail. "Oh no-"
Atobe's mouth was still running as he pushed through papers, not bothering to look at his assistant until he heard a whimper that sounded almost like a dog. He looked up and froze. His legs wanted to run but they wouldn't move and when he opened his mouth to shout for Jules nothing came.
He sunk in his chair, irritation taking him over now, but fear still gripping him hard. "What the fuck are you?" He managed out a few octaves higher them his normal tone. A chill ran up his spine, his chest heaving and heart pounding as muscles tensed, preparing to run if need be.
It was already getting hard to talk with the starts of sharp canine teeth. Ohtori was sure he'd probably lost his job and couldn't help that now. But he'd really be in trouble if Atobe called someone else in.
"It's okay-" Why was he trying to reassure the jerk, exactly? He could literally smell the fear in his boss. "I-I'm harmless..." His eyes flashed over to the phone, hoping he wouldn't have to dive for it and keep Atobe from calling the police or animal control or something.
Harmless?! Atobe followed Ohtori's dark eyes to the phone. He couldn't call Jules in, what if this beast did something to her? He had a panic button under his desk but something held him back from pushing it at that moment.
"What the fuck is going on?" His voice cracked and muscles twitch, if he could get past Ohtori and out his office door at least he could hope to entrap the other until the police or something could come. "Explain yourself!" Atobe shrilled, jumping from his seat as he caught sight of that large bushy tail that was peaking out of very expensive stained pants.
"Uhm-" He shifted over just slightly to keep from sitting on the tail, which was definitely showing he was just as nervous and trying to curl between his legs as they spoke. He could almost read Atobe's mind based on his scent and the sounds he was making. All he could do was pray that the older male wouldn't dart from the room.
"Remember how I told you I had a medical condition?"
Atobe stared, feeling light headed and overwhelmed. He took a few steps to the side , pulling his chair with him as means if a shield. "You're a fucking dog!?" Atobe screamed, this couldn't be Ohtori, not his Ohtori with the nice ass and timid smile who work as efficently as ten assistants put together. He grew cold and stumbled before fainting to the ground.
"Werewolf." Ohtori corrected his boss, frowning as he hit the floor and fainted. Well, at least Atobe would be more agreeable like this, he sighed and grabbed his jacket to stuff under Atobe's head and fetched a bottle of cold water and some aspirin to leave on the desk. Choutarou sighed and settled back in the chair, working to calm his nerves again and regain his human appearance as he couldn't leave like he was now without causing more hysteria. The last thing he could think to do for now was text Jules and tell her Atobe had developed a severe migraine and would need to take his lunch early. Now- all he could do was wait.
It only took a few moments and the knocking of Jules on his office door. He looked up at Ohtori and let out a gasp. Jules could not come in here. "Kei-chan, are you okay in there?" Her voice was gentle as she knocked
once more.
"Get over here!" Atobe hissed grabbing the dog...werewolf, whatever he was. His ears were gone, but the tail still was out, he'd risk his trust in Ohtori to save Jules. "Get down!" He tugged him to kneel behind his desk. "I swear if you hurt me I will kill you."
Atobe's heart raced as Jules came in and stated at them both. "Is everything okay?" She looked at them both. Atobe looked at Ohtori, expecting him to come upbeith an excuse.
Releasing a surprised yelp, Ohtori ducked obediantly behind the desk and shot Atobe a pleading look before leaning his arms on the desk and staring at a document. As Jules entered, Ohtori smiled slightly at her and nodded.
"Yes, Atobe-san just had a headache and asked me to look over something for him really quickly..." he hated lying, his tail twitched irately and smacked Atobe in the leg.
Atobe reached down and grabbed onto Ohtori's tail to stop it from hitting him. "Everything is fine Jules, thank you." He squeezed the thick fur in his hand, waiting for her to leave.
He resisted the urge to growl as fingers clamped around the twitching appendage. The moment Jules left the office, Ohtori winced and looked pleadingly at Atobe again. "Could you please let that go? It's sensitive."
"No! I'm not letting you go, not until you tell me what the hell is going on." He gave it a tug, feeling more confident. Ohtori was still Ohtori afterall and Atobe had decided he was no threat and just as easy to push around. "If this doesn't solidify all that data Sanada and I have gone over I don't know what would." He murmered.
Ohtori winced again as the tail was jerked, Atobe was definitely not going to make it easy. "Okay-okay, I'm not going to run away...could you at least stop pulling it, that is attached to me and all."
"What a sensitive doggy." Atobe got worse as he realized be still had that hold over Ohtori. "So you don't hurt people? None of that nasty stuff you hear about in fairy tales?" He pulled the long tail again, tickling the end if it across Ohtori's nose.
He wanted so badly to tell Atobe that he could be just as bad, if not worse, but that would lead to more trouble than it was worth. Frowning and trying to pull back from his own tail, he shot Atobe a worn look. "I choose not to hurt people- there is a difference."
"And you won't hurt me?" Atobe grinned, knowing the answer. Ohtori might be useful to have around especially with all of the weirdness going on lately. He had a use, beyond what Atobe had picked him up for already.
"If I haven't by now, why would I?" Seriously, he was harmless for the most part. "The only time I am dangerous is on those couple of days I take off each month...at the full moon." He tried again to free the tail, a worried frown on his face. "Please don't fire me- this won't happen again...I think I just got stressed and I really am not dangerous and I am just trying to have a normal life-"
"Thats not my plan, calm down." He smiled, setting the tail across his lap, petting it gently. "So, you get stressed and this happens? Or can you control it, like can you change all the way right now?" He smiled, watching the tail twitch in his lap. "I always wanted a dog." He teased.
Relaxing a little, partly from being reassured it wasn't all bad and maybe a little from the petting, Ohtori thought on it a moment. "I haven't been like this all that long- but from what I can tell it happens if I get stressed enough or hurt-" He scratches absently at the scar on his arm from the run in with the hunter. "I can't change all the way- then I get all dangerous and could actually hurt you without me meaning to."
"If you wanted to though, could you?" He scratched at the tail then began to pet it again. He was dreadfully curiouse to see Ohtori in full form.
"I guess...if I was really stressed or hurt..." Not that he wanted to be either, Ohtori thought a moment. "I was told that I'm pretty big and still a bit...like a pup." He blushed, just hoping to give enough to satisfy the other. "I mean, I was told by someone once that witches can make this potion that's supposed to keep werewolves from being a threat then...
"A puppy?" Atobe chuckled. "So do I need to bring in some training papers and a few chew toys?" He laughed, his hand going still on the thick fur of the tail. "Come to think of it you are quite loyal." He was too amused. First he'd been swept off to who knew where by a rookie witch and now he'd hired a werewolf puppy as an assistant. He wondered if Jules had any secrets. God his life. He was starting to think those long hours at the office really weren't good for him after all.
He would have rolled his eyes, but in all honesty the fingers running through the fur on his tail was actually very soothing. He rested against the desk, all the stress from the bad day finally letting up a little. "So...what was that research were you talking about earlier anyway?"
"Poor Thorn." Atobe rubbed the top of his head like he would have a dog. "how did this happen to you...were you normal before?" Talking about it like it was normal was getting easier now. "Oh and the research was just about that weird thing that happened last week...and part of why I believe you instead if shipping us both off to the looney bin." He went back to running long fingers through fur.
The hand on his head should not have felt half as good as it did. Ohtori sighed and nodded his head. "Yeah- I had a normal life and family- I was in school and played violin for the local symposium...then I got attacked by a werewolf and now I'm here."
He looked up curiously at the mention of looney bins and shuddered, his own family had thought he was insane when this all started. "Yeah- there are a lot of scary things out there."
For the first time in his life, Atobe almost felt sorry for someone. "So you're trapped..." A feeling Atobe knew well. "Can you make the ears come back?" Curiousity got the best of him.
"I guess for lack of a better word, yes." This was getting a little depressing, Ohtori frowned and redjusted his weight against the desk, letting his tail wag a little more. "No- but if I ever figure out how to control it- I'll let you know."
"Please do. I want to see more." He looked down to see a patch of fur peeking out of the waist band of Ohtoris pants, probably from his tail and reached down to scratch it, just like he had his head. "Jules!" He called, still pushing fingers against fur. She appeared in an instant. "Our dear friend here needs a change of pants, will you get some?"
It was mostly an after thought, but Ohtori glanced up at Atobe again and mumbled quietly, "you can't tell anyone. There are people out there that kill things like me..."
There might have been further protest on his part had his boss not found the small line of fur that lead to his tail and started to scratch it. "Mmm-god..." He'd defnitely have to remember that spot when his brain had stopped turning to jelly over the borderline orgasmic tingles running up his spine.
Jules gave them both a strange look, but knew better then to question Atobe. She dipped out of the room, already on her phone calling for a replacment pair of pants.
"I won't tell." He smiled, "And why kill, it would be smarter to put you on exhibition." He continued to rub fingers over Ohtori's fur, fascinated by him. "Are you a big puppy?" He asked, half teasing.
"Nn-dunno." Choutarou squirmed a bit and tried to keep from making any more dirty sounds from the feeling of fingers along his back. He could barely even focus on the words being uttered. "M'not a puppy..."
"I thought you said you were." Atobe had noticed that Ohtori had seemed to freeze up. "Does this feel good or something?" He asked, cocking his head to the side.
Ohtori let his eyes close and he nodded his head, blushing. "Really really good."
"By the look on your face I'd half expect you to roll over for me to scratch your belly." He laughed and pulled his hand back, it might be best to stop now before he compromised the other's relationship.
"Yeah-" Ohtori yawned a little, just glad things were working out. "Thanks for handling this pretty well." He finally stood up and stretching, again working at making his tail vanish.
Atobe watched as Ohtori stood, turnin, hitting him the face with his tail. "Watch it." He warned, pushing it away.
Looking back at Atobe, Ohtori gave an apologetic smile, "the thing has a mind of its own. Sorry." He was completely normal again by the time Jules returned with some pants. Thanking her, he quickly slunk out of the office and to the restroom to change and get to work before anything else happened.
Jules went to sit on the edge of Atobe's desk, her a-line skirt hugging her hips as she leaned over to fix Atobe's tie. "Are you being naughty, Keigo?" She asked. He chuckled, shaking his head 'no.' She gave him a look before sliding off the desk, her stilletos clicking across marble as Ohtori came back in. Atobe kind of missed the tail. "Better." He nodded to the new pants. "I think Jules thinks were having an affair." He laughed, holding out
a folder expecting Ohtori to take it.
Returning, having not missed the raised brow and strange smirk Jules shot him he smiled faintly at Atobe. Really pants were so much more comfortable without a tail.
Taking the folder and quickly scanning it to see what he needed to do, he started to head for the filing cabinet before freezing in his tracks. Hearing the word 'affair' he turned red and shook his head quickly. "You could tell her I have a boyfriend if it helps."
"An affair is an affair. It doesn't matter if your committed." He laughed, how naive...but cute. "So I'll only get to see that tail again if I tell at you?" He stood to stretch and leaned against the wall near Ohtori.
"Oh-" He shrugged a little, he'd always heard that affairs were only with married people. Blinking back up at Atobe as he started to arrange and pull files again, he frowned.
"I don't know- I mean it just happens sometimes...other than that on full moons, but by then I'm not me any more and I'd probably kill you or something. At least until I figure out how to get a good size cage, test that potion, or see how sensitive to sedatives it is..."
"Hum, what if I only want to pet your tail?" Atobe brought a hand to his temples, he could believe he was handling this like a normal conversation. "Or give you a reward for being a good boy and scratch that spot...maybe I can get some doggy biscuts to keep at my desk for you."
"I actually don't like them very much." He tried it, not that he wanted to admit it, but curiousity had gotten the better of him in the past. "I'll settle for just being told I did well."
"So your boyfriend...does he know?" Atobe asked, he was going to get his doggie treats anyway. Maybe a dog dish too...
"Yeah- he knows." There was no point in lying, that could get them in even worse trouble in the long run, but he could leave out the detail that said boyfriend was also a werewolf.
"Mmm, that could get kinky." He grinned. "Do you ever start to change in the middle of fucking?" That sure would put a new spin on doggie style, the pun was too bad to say out loud though so Atobe refrained.
"It doesn't-" Not to say he had much experience yet in that area, but aside from some clawing, it seemed pretty normal. "And no- I-I never had that happen before." He was flushed, flustered and getting more and more embarassed by the moment.
"Your lover must not satisfy you then, I would think a throng of passion would do the trick." He hunched down next to Ohtori. "Funny that tail stayed out until I stopped petting you...what would have happened if I kept going, I wonder." He asked, a small smirk on his lips.
His hair stood on end just a little at the low-blow toward Renji, Ohtori exhaled and calmed himself. So he was a little touchy about his boyfriend, maybe it was a pack thing?
"Nothing, it goes away when I calm down enough."
"Would you have let me keep going though?" He asked, moving closer to Ohtori.
He blinked up, clearly a little confused with where this was all going. "I don't see why not...I mean, as long as you didn't pull on my tail or anything mean like that."
"Nothing mean of course. Did it turn you on?" He grinned, wanting to watch Ohtori squirm again.
And squirm he did, again turning an interesting red colour and staring at the files while worrying his brows. Admittedly it did a little, but he was not about to just admit that.
"Ohtori, I asked you a question." Atobe grabbed a file from him and placed it in it's proper place.
"Ah- uhm....no. It just felt good is all. You can't think that it turns on a dog to have his belly rubbed...that's just gross."
It was Atobe's turn to look flustered this time. His hand hovered over Ohtori's back where he had been planning on touching the spot where the patch of hair had been. "But you weren't a dog, you were a person." He pointed out, placing his hand on his back, finally.
He tensed a little, swallowing and glancing over his shoulder at Atobe. "I guess that's true-" He finished the last file quickly, finding the feel of a hand other than Renji's on him a little strange.
"So did it?" He asked again, fingers flexing. Really, Atobe was harmless, he just loved to test people's limits, and Ohtori was very fun to get reactions out of.
Yes. Ohtori calmed himself and put on his most serene smile, "No, not really."
"You're no fun." Atobe pulled his hand away and stood. "My father is making a visit today so you must be flawless and perfectly efficient and polite and no puppy dog antics." Atobe walked over to the wall to wall glass window of his office and stared out over the skyline. His father's visit was bigger then he was letting on, but Atobe rarely let emotions show.
Looking back at Atobe, he smiled and nodded before silently leaving the room to make sure all of his responsibilities in the company were in tip top condition.
Atobe sighed, a werewolf, he couldn't believe it...and that tail. Atobe's hand came up to his temple, rubbing away a headache that was coming on. Atobe frowned, and the way he'd just been petting him, part of that was denial, making a joke out of the situation, this very awkward situation. If he didn't believe in all this before he certainly did now.
He stared down at the roof tops and city streets wondering just how many people out there were like Ohtori and if they were all as gentle. "Bah!" He stepped away from the window to get back to work.
