Alright, hey everyone, how's it going?
The purpose of this post is to write about how I met the wonderful woman, and love of my life, know as Martha Mintz :-D
Sunday the 24th was our year and 5 months of being together, and I'm so happy that we've gotten this far, but this is by no means the end of my goal, as it is to spend the, hum, I don't know..how should I discribe this? Oh! She put it quite properly "the rest of forever, plus a day, lots of kittens, and a couple of rocking chairs " Yup, that's right ladies, and gents. I hope to share the rest of my life with this woman. Some people would think.." aren't you a little young to think about that? " truth is I love her, and she means the world to me, so why not work torwards it now?
Martha and I met through this program called City At Peace ( C.A.P. ) It's a community awareness program that teaches mediation through the arts. Many young people meet every Sat. for six months, to talk about their community, and pressing issues such as Racism, Sexism, Gender equality, Homophobia, and many others, just to name a few..
She came in a little later than I did. Every morning we'd get picked up in Isla Vista ( where I lived ) to be transported to Santa Barbara ( the neighboring city ) in this nice white van.
This particular morning, I decided to show up early, so I did. The whether outside was beautyful, and it was a crisp clear morning, so I was in a cheerful mood. I arrived at the usual pickup place, and lo and behold, there sitting with the van door open, allowing me a better glimps..is Martha. She's sitting there, the light on the other side of the van, sunlight framing her silhouette and all..my heart skips a beat, and just like that I forget how to breathe.
Jeff, who was the original artistic director ( he's moved onto greater things in N.Y. ) introduced us. He said " Victor Carrasco, meet Martha Mintz. Martha Mintz, this is Victor Carrasco. " we shook hands, and it took all I had so that I didn't stutter, or stumble over my own words ( usually I'm a good public speaker, but Martha talking with Martha was harder than talking to a hundred people, she is such a stunning person ) but I did, and it was all good. We had a good conversation in the van, while everyone else showed up, and I still couldn't help but notice how beautyful she looked.I emmediately took a liking to her. She has this great personality, eyes, lips, everything.
Over the course of time we ( a few months or so ) became good friends, being nutty, having fun, joking around, and just chilling with each other. She and I would make eyes at each other from a far, one thinking that the other might not notice the discreet exchange, and vice versa, but we both noticed.
One day, as I was having lunch, she sat in front of me, and we started talking. When she asks..
M: neutrally " So...how's your girlfriend doing? "
V: a bit intruiged at the question " what girlfriend? "
She had know about me having a girlfriend, I'd told her. What I forgot to mention, was that she and I had broken up, not too long ago. I didn't mention it because I didn't think she'd be interested, but I was wrong.
Martha tried to hide it, but her eyes had lit up, and she was getting a bit worked up
M: " you don't have a girlfriend? what happened? are you sure? " ( not the exact wording, mind you, but something simillar )
V: * lol * " Yeah, I'm sure..you see " ( I proceed to tell her what had happened )
Not soon after, she began showing signs of interest, and I shared them back. We'd flirt, and hang out more often during City at Peace. One day, she was feeling a bit low, and I was tired, so we were both a little low that day, until I offered my hand " get up, c'mon " I said with a grin on my lips. " where are we going? " she asked.." just watch " I said..
so I take her by the hands, and lead her to the middle of the room. Everyone else was doing their own thing, so I began humming as much as " making " music, and started to dance. She joined in soon after, and in no time we were making our own fun. Eventually we go into this romantic slowdance..and we're dancing, when we go to turn to each other and our lips brushed. She went off to a little corner, and I thought to myself " did I scare her off?? " but noticed she was writing, and ( wishful thinking here ) figured that she was writting down her phone number. Sure enough, she returns with the slit of paper, and a number on it. Cute little paper with cats ( still have it to this day ) and tells me that she won't be home till the weekend is over ( she was going home for the weekend ) but told me that I was welcome to call her any time..
Huh..seems like I wrote enough for right now ( what a cliff hanger, eh? ^_~ ) but I'll continue the story ( it's the previous entry ) later.
Stay tunned, same bat time, same bat channel! na na naa na na na naaaa!!
