Weekend

Alright, so..for entertainment purposes, I'll be specific about details. so let's start with Friday, the trip to China Town and Olivera street.

Friday morning I woke up really early, took a nice warm shower, got dressed, prepped, and ran to U.C.S.B. to catch the express downtown ( I was kinda running out of time, but I just wanted the excercise really, gets the blood pumping ) and made it in time to catch the bus.

I went through a series of switching lines before I made it to S.B.C.C. where I arrived all kinds of early, got there at 7a.m. ( all of this goes down from morn. to eve. ) and everyone else got there at 7:45a.m. But it was some good lone time, I got to read more of " Vamp. Files " and am now at the final story, damn that book is good!!! :-D

We all borded the charter busses ( we take them all the time, and they all usually have t.v.'s in 'em ) but after I got in the bus, I realized that ours didn't have a t.v. inside, and by the time my crew found out, the one that had one had been filled, so whatever. We all got into the bus ( I'd been prepped and brougt movies allong, but oh well ) and chilled while attendance was getting checked. Then we got going.

Not having a t.v. in our bus was actually a good thing, seeing as how we were all the cool people of running start, and was the gang with the most commedians ( a bunch of gals, guys, and me were making people have stitches allong the ride, they enjoyed it ^_^ ) and we all got to bond, it was fun. Then when everything melowed out, I whipped out the book, and read some more..this book is great! did I mention thanks for lending it to me? If not, then Thank you, sweetheart, you have great taste in a hell of a lot of things. But then again I can say the same thing about myself, seeing as how I fell for you ^_^

I looked out the window right as we were passing the marker for woodland hills and thought of you, the pang of missing you so bad was there like a constant reminder of your absence..so I tried my best to think of the times you were here, but it's still hard to not think about anything else..

We reached China town, and all met outside because our instructor wanted to give us a meeting point, and time. We had approx two Hours to walk around and do our own thing, so after he gave us the speech, and we all split our own ways.

I walked around, took the scenery in, the smells, the sounds. It was a nice place, a bit crowded, but nice nonetheless. People kept complaining about certain smells, and the heat. The smell I can deal with, but the heat was awefull. It was something like 105f degrees, no joke. The weather has been messed up over here, but moving on..

I saw a few things in this market that I thought Jenny, Juancarlos, Cristina, and you'd like. Nothing too fance, trinkets, but they were nice. So I got Jenny a pointed straw hat ( she loves them ) and I got Juan Carlos a flute each, otherwise they'd fight over it. I got you something as well ( couple of things really, I saw them, and thought of you emmediately ) I also got myself a birthday gift. I bought a nice Katana from one of the vendors. it was something like 30ish dollars, but I talked them down to $16 :-) I felt pretty proud of myself. It's nothing fancy, just liked its design, the colour ( the handle is oldschool samurai sword, black material in a weave, and the sheath is nice and black, not sure if it's full tang, but it's nice for decor, but if burglars come in...they'll have the time of their lives defending themselves against me ) got it boxed, and taped, since we were going back via train, and I wasn't so sure they'd let me on if they knew what I was carrying..

We got some food, but I took a few bites, and emmediately discarded it, because it was greasy as hell, and I know from experiance that my stomach wouldn't be able to take it. So I waited 'till we went to Olivera street to eat.

We met up at the meeting place, and walked over to Olivera in the hot hot wheather, again taking in the scenery. When we got there, we got the same speech, the " meet us here in two hours, or else we wont make the train on time! " so we all separated..

I walked around, and saw a lot of neat stuff, again thinking of Martha, and thought " Martha would have fun around here ^_^ " lots of Frida items, and cultural things as well ( remember the little wooden cats, and animals we talked about your parents liking? ) so one of these days I'd like to go back there with you ( Olivera Street ) and walk around a little. The place isn't that big, just a market area not even a block long, but it was nice, I think you'd like the smells and colours around there. After a while I got some tacos to eat, god it was yummy, and after walking around all day, a huge thing of Horchata was just what the doctor ordered.

After the belated lunch, I walked into some pretty shops, and found some Abanicos ( old school fans ) that were pretty, and decorated with all sorts of colours. I bought a black fan for mom, with a baby blue design weaving. It was pretty, just like her.

I bonded with a few people that were in my area ( a few of us had sit down to rest after a while ) and we all had good time making fun of each other. After a while, we all met up with the rest of the group, and walked a block to the big train station while joking around. Someone had bought a Mexican flag and I started going " Viva Mexico!! " while others shouted " Viva!! " and it went on like this for a little while before just a couple of us were shouting it, and then everyone was laughing, good times :-P

We got to the train station, and we weaited for a while before we could go into the boarding station. It got so hot down there, and was annoying, since we had to wait for like the longest time for our train to come...( jeeze, typing that word makes me think thoughts of you, I want to make you....oooh, not fair, Martha, not fair one bit, just you wait till you come back ^_~ )but it arrived, and we finally boarded it. I had no trouble getting in with the long vertical box containing the Katana, and so everything was good.

On on our way back, We all just chilled, some played poker with real money, I went to the back of our cart ( yeah, we got an entire cart to ourselves ) where the creative/theater/singing oriented people were at. I went all improve on them, and we all had a fun time singing, and laughing...I really wish Martha was there, she would've made it so much more fun.

We got back to S.B. and were dropped off, then I went home, and gave the familly their souveneres, which they all enjoyed very much ( the kids squealed in delight when I presented them with the flutes, then they proceeded to make " music " with them :-D ) Jenny loved her hat, and Mom loved her fan. It was a good moment. Then I got ready for sleep, and drifted off to sleep, thinking of my sweetheart..

Saturday and Sunday was full of work, but alright, hung out with Mike and Emma ( she'd come down for the weekend, and is moving into S.B. next week, we'll hang out then too, but mike will be leaving the day before she comes back to stay. He's got the worse timing. However he'll be going to Alaska to work on a farm for room and board, where he'll be able to bike around and enjoy the scenery. I still think he's a dork for doing it ) and it was our seventeenth monthaversary, two days ago, which made me happy, but sad that I couldn't share it with Martha..bleh..

anyways..gonna go now, tutoring starts in a bit, hope you're all doing well!
