“Won-Won!”
Ron winced as he heard her shrill voice, he knew what was coming. He strained a smile as he turned around, and she tackled him into a hug.
“Hello, Lavender,” he said, not being able to say any more before she pulled him closer and started kissing him. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and gasped as she pulled him into a nearby broom closet.
“Lavender…” he started, but was quickly cut off by her kissing him again. “Lavender, I really…”
“Shush, Ron,”
“Lavender.” He pushed her away from him softly, making sure not to crash her into any of the brooms standing up behind her.
“What’s wrong, Won-Won?” Lavender was looking at him with a tilted head, she looked like she had gone loony. And, Ron thought, she probably was loony.
“We can’t do this, Lavender,” he told her.
“But, why?” She said, tilting her head even more. Ron resisted the impulse to laugh at her. Suddenly, her eyes got hostile. “It’s Hermione, isn’t it?”
“I never said that, Lavender,” Ron said, raising his hands to show he was innocent, and trying to take a step back.
“But it’s true, isn’t it?” She glared at him, and he gulped. She really could be scary, when she tried to be.
“No, Lavender, it’s…” He was cut off again by a loud huff.
“It is, and don’t deny it.” She stared at him, not blinking, daring him to tell her the truth.
“Lavender, that’s not it.” Ron felt behind him for the handle of the door.
She just huffed again, and smacked his hand off the door handle. She walked out of the closet, and Ron watched as she strutted down the hallway, not looking back. He widened his eyes, as he saw her turn and walk off, without even turning and saying a goodbye.
“Well, I think you’ve solved that problem.” Ginny said, coming up behind him. He blushed, as he turned around to face her.
“You saw that?” He asked Ginny, and she just rolled her eyes.
“Yes, I saw that, and you’re hopeless, Ron, hopeless,” she told him as she walked past him. He was still standing half inside the broom closet, and his face was as brightly red as his hair. “You might want to get back to the common room, Filch might come looking for you.”
Ron quickly slid out of the closet and closed the door quietly. He then ran back to the common room, praying to Merlin that he wouldn’t run into Lavender.
