I have faced
the Slayer in battle.
And I kicked her ass.
Sometimes I wonder if our intel can be trusted. She's the so-called "Chosen One"? She's the one who vampires fear? She's the one entrusted to guard the Hellmouth?
All I got from her were bad puns. Puns obviously meant to throw her opponent off-guard so she can get lucky and slip a stake between their ribs. She's a sloppy fighter. She's strong, yes, but strength is effective only if used properly. Strength doesn't always translate into power.
She has no power.
Which, to be honest, is fine by me. I'd had my reservations about coming here, especially in light of reports that she'd managed to cheat death itself. I assumed I'd be in for a fight once I arrived in Sunnydale.
Now I'm wondering what the fuss was about. Just what did Walsh see in her, besides something else to control? Or
Finn, for that matter?
Scratch that. I know what Finn saw in her. The combat pit wasn't the only place they were getting a workout.
I think I can relax now. Not let down my guard, of course. Underestimation breeds complacency, and complacency leads to failure. But I can relax knowing that the Slayer's not all she's cracked up to be.
Now, the real test will be in convincing the others of that...
