hi flist! *hugs*
- my birthday was awesome!! it was sydney33's birthday too and she had decided she wanted to go see "the waco brothers", who were playing the night of our birthday. she invited a bunch of us to come along and since i had already celebrated my birthday earlier this month when everyone came over for my annual firefly viewing/drinking party, i really didn't have anything to do and thought it would be fun to go out. i hesitated a little 'cause the band is a country band...although the description said they were more alternative. so, i headed out to meet
sydney33 , her boyfriend
mars19 ,
sparky77 ,
chivenger and some of sydney's friends at schubas where the band was playing.. omg! the band was awesome! it was way more rock/alternative with a country twang and they were real funny on stage. glad i went!! - had a good xmas :) got a bunch of cool stuff, a couple of gift cards and cashy money. now i think i'm going to buy myself a camera :)
- i've been sick! yup. the day after my party i felt awful. my throat was swollen and hoarse. i had a cold sore on the roof of my mouth! ow! and i was exhausted. i slept all day sunday and still felt exhausted, so i took monday off of work. i slept all day. tuesday and wed i went into work even though i wasn't feeling much better and was very sluggish at work. i couldn't concentrate. i left at 2pm both days and went straight to bed. took off thursday to go see the doctor 'cause by then i was coughing and headache and body aches, yuck! doctor checks me out and says i have a viral infection, therefore there's no medicine to give me. *sigh* since then i've gotten much better but the funny voice persists as well as a super dry cough which made me feel like i was going to bust a gut the other day (or choke and throw up from the strain). so now, i stll have the cough (taking over the counter cough medicine and sucking on halls), but not as bad. oh! and the funny thing is that i lost my sense of smell and taste so all the good holiday food? couldn't taste it. :(
- i've been obsessed with knitting lately. just this month of december i made (i'm linking each item to a picture of it) [ eta: except for #1 and #2. made those at the end of november ]:
- 1 pair of wrist warmers for me (the ones that started up my current knitting obsession)
- 1 pair of socks for me (my first pair ever and therefore not that great but now i know how!)
- 1 pair of wrist warmers for my sister
- 1 pair of wrist warmers and a scarf for my best friend's mom for xmas
- 1 pair of gloves and a hat for my dad for xmas (one of the gloves is inside-out)
- 1 hat for my mom (here's the top of the hat)
- 1 hat for my best friend's girlfriend (same as my mom's hat)
- 1 hat with earflaps for me
- 1 dishcloth (which i made from a pattern found in the book
kernelm gave me for my bday! there's a bunch of other stuff in there i want to make.) - 1 fingerless glove (which i didn't like so i haven't made it's mate)
- working on a washcloth that is very cute
- i created a knitting blog where i'll post more detailed knitting type stuff regarding my projects
- i have a ravelry account now. if you're on ravelry, i'm vampirefan there too.
- being sick the whole week before xmas means that i still haven't mailed out my holiday cards. but i still am going to do it. :)
- the good thing about having lost my sense of smell: i couldn't smell the cigarette smoke in the bar where we hung out before the band started playing
- orlando bloom!!
- i'm going to do the folk remedy that my dad keeps telling me i need to do for my cough. i'm going to squeeze a lime. then i'm going to add an equal amount of tequila. then i'm supposed to drink it - and very important! i'm supposed to lean forward, backwards and side to side to make sure the concocktion(sp?) spreads around everywhere inside. lol!! i know that my esophagus is a tube and that i don't need to do all that, but my dad insists that it is imperative to the remedy. *sigh* also, it's going to taste gross. i've had it before and let me tell you, equal amounts of tequila and lime taste icky. go try it if you don't believe me. (my sense of smell and taste seem to slowly be making an appearance but mostly with really strong scents/flavors. i'd better hurry up and take the remedy!)
- i went out to hooters with my parents and my sister. had 2 lbs. of the snow crab legs. (hey, they were on sale for $7.99 a lb!) (also, why i do this to myself, i have no idea. i couldn't really taste the crablegs but just knowing i was eating them, the texture... *sigh*...
wow! you read that whole thing? that's awesome!!
*hugs*
(eta: to add a picture of the finished earflap hat)
(eta2: to correct the knitting stuff. the first 2 items were actually completed in late november! i love how i can keep track of start and finish months on ravelry - now if they would only add )
