When He'd Loved Her Most
Damon always remembered her as a goddess. He’d worshipped those dark, laughing eyes as she shone in the sun, his beautiful Persephone. Then the whispered prayers to his beloved in the night, the Cupid to her Psyche as they embraced in the shadows, always hiding from the light.
But mostly he remembered her fierce and terrible, afraid he might turn to dust if he gazed upon her as the blood pooled in her eyes and dribbled from her lips. His blood. His brother’s blood. And those moments, when she was war and terror and lust incarnate, he loved her most.
