I went in for the interview with that company that I really wanted to work for.
It was downtown Los Angeles in the Fashion District. Elite company. Been in business for 26 years. Small office, friendly staff, quirky owner. I even got a bit lost and arrived a few minutes late. The thing is, I nailed the interview. I was hired on the spot. All of it seemed to go my way.
Then we got to the pay. I understand not wanting to pay someone a huge salary without knowing for sure what they are worth. I however, specifically told them what I was looking to make. They offered me less. Despite the perks of a chance of a bonus, HUGE discounts on clothing, shoes, and other nifty stuff, I just didn't think it would work out.
I have other things lined up, all of them guaranteed to pay more. Yet I'm sitting here still bummed out. I guess it just wasn't as perfect as I'd hoped.
Sigh.
