It’s time for the three women in Dracula’s inner circle to hit the small screen. NBC has given Brides of Dracula - from writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Glee, Archie) and producer Greg Berlanti (Arrow) - a pilot production commitment, EW has confirmed.

Deadline first reported the go-ahead for the soapy, family drama pilot centered on the vampire sisters living in contemporary New York City. The initially unnamed sisters first appeared in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, and later in the 1960 horror film The Brides of Dracula. In the classic tale, they are ultimately killed by Dr. Van Helsing. The gothic TV series would see them survive instead and try to keep their unusual family together in the modern era.
Berlanti has a hand in myriad shows, executive producing Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow on the CW and the upcoming Supergirl on CBS. He’s also producing the forthcoming Pan movie starring Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard. Aguirre-Sacasa, who is chief creative officer for Archie Comics, wrote the 2013 cinematic remake of Carrie and co-executive produced the acclaimed but recently canceled HBO series Looking.
