Teen girl writes and directs a vampire flick
By Whitney Matheson, USA TODAY
Several years ago I wrote about Emily Hagins, a filmmaker who made a full-length zombie feature ... when she was just 12 years old. Hagins' project was the subject of an acclaimed documentary, Zombie Girl: The Movie, that rocked several film festivals in 2009.
Now 19, Hagins is still pursuing a film career, and she has just finished another flick called My Sucky Teen Romance. The movie follows a group of friends at a local sci-fi convention who encounter a band of thirsty (but kinda cute) vampires.
Here's the trailer (and I love the song):
...
Hagins began writing the script when she was 16. I'm eager to see the finished product -- it looks better than most vampire flicks out there!
My Sucky Teen Romance arrives on DVD and Blu-ray Sept. 4. Learn more about it at Emily's website, cheesynuggets.com.
