Seriously, people

I'm at work right now... I work for customer service in a call center and it's seriously annoying.  I don't understand how people can put such trivial things such as one channel being out (i work for a cable company) and pitch a fit...screaming, yelling, swearing at a perfect stranger over the phone.  IT'S CABLE. That's it.  It is not, no matter how much you try to make me believe it, life or death.  You will not die if MTV is out for an hour, I promise you.  If there is an outage, find something else to do.  Read a book or watch a dvd.  We're working on it.  The techs can't go any faster than they are at the current time.  Sorry your cable is out right now when you are sitting there avoiding time with you family, but the people who were involved in the car accident that brought the cable line down are fine, thanks for asking.  My point is there are much more important things to care about in the world today.  Yes, you are paying for a service, but all services have problems.  Screaming like an idiot about it is not going to help.

Oh, and threatening that you are going to another provider means nothing to me, I'll still have my job tomorrow.

Here's another thing, demanding a supervisor and acting like an asshole on the phone (that you are being recorded on, by the way) does not get your tv on sooner, does not get the tech out that second, does not get you an obnoxious amount of credit that is not necessary.  Yes, there are times when credit is due, but screaming about it doesn't make it happen.  We're all human beings, how would you like to be spoken down to or yelled at for somethign that is NOT even your fault?

In happier news, it's sunny out today.  Perfect hoodie weather.  I want to go outside :)
