so i think i mentioned in my one and only previous entry that i would be using Lj for a place to put stories of my characters...some of which are in actual existing form as Ball-jointed-dolls (BJD). Wyn is an anomaly as he was created for the doll, not the other way around. some background: i got into the whole doll thing in order to make my characters (particularly Alex) as dolls. i didnt expect to love it as much as i do, or to get quite as obsessed, but i did and now i have 7 complete dolls, one on the way, and two floating heads waiting for bodies. chances are i'll be ordering another one really soon. any way, back to Wyn. Wyn was my 4th doll who could have been my second, but i was only buying dolls for characters and the B&G Sapphira, being an elf, had no place in my story. so instead of Sapphira i bought Ymir who became Lucifer. cause he's so damn cute^^
after my 3rd doll (whom i no longer own) i gave in and bought the Sapphira anyway, thus having my first doll with no character. well, this is not entirely true....i had one elf, who had been revamped, then scrapped all together when he no longer fit in with my story...so i loosely based Wyn on him. Magnus (the old character who would become Wyn) was a half elf, half troll with pale blue hair, purple eyes and a cows tail (troll), so i thought i could do that at least with the Sapphira, but not anything else as the mangus in my head looked nothing like Sapphira and had a stern personality that doll could never pull off. i looked for blue hair and found nothing resembling what i wanted so i got purple instead, some fantastic green eyes and found something i could use as the tail. then the doll showed up almost a week early with practically no warning. he had a wig, no eyes since they didnt come in for 2 more weeks, no clothes no tail (didnt finish it) no name and no personality. he did get his tail that day, but it was several more days of me searching through elvish language sites to find a name before he got his. and in the end, the name Wyn just sort of popped in my head...and i made the rest up to go with it. about the first week of me owning him, i wrote him a story that i havent looked at since. it hasnt been edited or messed with or fixed in any way, so sorry if it sucks. since then ive changed it a bit and im pretty confident i can work him in nicely with the rest of my characters in the story/comic i call "Forgotten Children." with a title like that he fits in already!
if you want to see my Wynnie, he's spammed all over Den of Angels, the BJD forum (must be a member to log on) and he's on my Deviant Art page. if you do go look, All my art, characters and their images, likenesses and everything else on that page belongs to me. including the dolls and their images. seriously that shit is not for reposting anywhere at all. so dont do it. its wrong, ridiculous and kinda sad to steal other peoples art.
enough rant. if youre still reading, here's the original story of Wyn. just so you know, i dont consider myself a writer at all, so no making fun!! XD
Once upon a time (hey you asked for it) a Sidhe noble was looking for one last fling before he was to be betrothed to some other nobles daughter. He met what he thought was a beautiful, human maiden in the forest, and being of the fae, he tricked her into thinking he loved her and they got it on right there next to a stream. After it was over, he took off before she woke up, leaving her alone in the dark scary woods. She woke up, realized she was alone and that her “prince” sucked, and went home…to her family of mountain trolls. The woman was actually a Huldermaiden, a female troll, born to look like a beautiful women with a cows tail. The job of a Huldermaiden was to lure human men to their families’ lair to be eaten. This particular Huldermaiden however had been looking to escape the troll life and was trying to find a husband, for if a Huldermaiden is married to a human in a church, her tail falls off and she can live a normal life, also as a human. Needless to say, she was pissed at having been tricked herself by an elf. I’m really glad I wasn’t there to see that, as trolls have nasty tempers.
Fast forward nine months, and we have the Sidhe noble about to be married, when a woman shows up on his doorstep with a baby, claiming it’s his. Eep. To make matters worse, the woman says she’s a troll (dear god no!) and can’t keep the baby cause her family wanted to eat it. The Elf Lord had no choice but to take the child, because elves tend to look down upon the eating of their young, and it was obvious the kid was his, cause they both had the same bright green eyes, and violet hair. The larger-than-normal and floppy ears along with the cow-like tail however, were very unelf-like. Not to mention he suddenly had a kid before even marrying his soon-to-be wife. The troll-woman didn’t seem to care, she handed him the baby, and left after telling him the child had been named Naerwyn, which meant Tearful Song. Not knowing what to do and totally embarrassed, he gave the baby to his cook and told her to hide him away from all the other elves so as not to ruin his reputation.
So Naerwyn grew up in the dark underbelly of his prosperous home, playing with the servant children and using whatever he found on the floor as toys (dirt, rocks, trash). His father would visit him once every two months, just to see how he was and if he still had that tail (he did) but was never affectionate with him. It didn’t help that not only did Wyn not look completely like an elf, but that he seemed to have no talent whatsoever for magic, something the elves valued in themselves greatly. A child with troll blood seemed to be totally worthless to the status-seeking Elf Lord, and so he was content to continue keeping Wyn hidden from the rest of the Fae. Unfortunately for him, Lady Luck must have taken a vacation the day the cook left the backdoor wide open, and a small, curious troll-elf-child wandered out into the gardens of Faerie for the first time in his life.
Wyn immediately fell in love with the gardens of Faerie. It was his first time to even see them, as his dungeon-like home had not even a single window for him to look out of. He was simply enamored by the wonderful smells, sounds and the sight of things like flowers, the sky…and butterflies. The butterflies were his favorite, such tiny delicate wings…and they flew! Never seeing anything as beautiful as the Faerie garden, Wyn never noticed that there were other elves about. Some Elvin Ladies having lunch by an ornate fountain thought they saw a strange child gallivanting among the flowers. Wyn never noticed the Ladies, but he had no choice but to see his father, who violently grabbed his arm and dragged him back inside.
“What if someone were to find out that you’re mine?? What would they think?!” Livid, the Elf Lord locked his bastard son up in a tower overlooking the very garden he had tried to explore and never let him out. This was somehow a worse punishment than living in the basements under the palaces. Now Wyn was able to see the world now, but forbidden to go near it, or even leave his tiny room. Miserable and lonely, Wyn could only sit by his one window and dream of the day he could leave this place.
One day, several years later, Naerwyn got up the courage to ask his father if he could go outside again, just once and at night so no one would notice him. Just to get some fresh air, he’d loved being outside so much the one time he was able to get there…. His father did nothing for a while but glare at him. He was tired of being forced to care for this troll-thing who was living here. He had a naggy wife and his own real elf children to deal with, and no longer wanted to be reminded of his “little mistake” every time he heard a creak over the ceiling or had to go up to the attic to retrieve some old, dusty relic. “You know what?” he said, “if you like being outside so much, you can stay there forever! And never come back here again! You little ungrateful brat!”
And just like that, Naerwyn found himself alone and banished forever. With nowhere else to go, he wandered off into the woods…where he was for god knows how long, having god knows what happening to him. Until one day when I was also wandering around in the woods. I had been told to go on a snipe hunt, and having no idea what a snipe looked like, I was pretty surprised to find one sitting by a stream. It was clearly terrified of me, so I gave it my peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich, which it must have liked, cause it followed me back. After everyone ran screaming from my what-was-apparently-not-a-snipe, I took it home and let it have the run of my apartment, along with my angel, vampire, half angel-half vampire and two cats. After about a week of coxing I finally found out his name, and some of his story. Happily Wyns personality is also coming out, now that he is in an, er,...normal environment. Relatively speaking anyway. Someday I might find out a little more about him, but right now he’s still shy and very quiet. I just think he’s happy to live somewhere where he gets food, his own clothes to wear, a place to sleep and shiny, pretty things to amuse himself with. A place where no one is ashamed of him, where he can go outside when he wants to, and no one thinks he is even remotely ugly. He still follows me around everywhere, so he’s not lonely anymore and he shows no intention of leaving. I guess he must have really liked that peanut butter sandwich.
thank you and goodnight^^
