Dear [Insert place of employment here]:

It's now 11:45 PM, and I've just gotten off the phone with the closing cashier, who had a bit of a problem and needed my advice. I've only been off work now for less than an hour, and I am far from being asleep, but still. This phone call should never have happened, because the problem she had was relatively simple to fix. And this isn't the first time in the last few weeks that this has happened, either.

Please stop scheduling baby cashiers to stay for the closing shift when all register-operating management leaves at least an hour before the store closes. They are new; they have enough trouble running register when there is someone there to help them because they're still figuring things out. This will make everyone's life so much easier: the cashier's, the customers', and that of the night crew lead.

Seriously.

I know I don't know what I'm talking about, since I just run the whole front-end, but please. I know we've got seasoned cashiers to put on at night. For goodness sake, use them.
