Judge Overrules Florida Ban on Gay Couples Adopting.
Good on the judge, but still. Progressive rulings in the South are the surest ways to get those fucking savages from the Klan on your ass. That, and horrifically stupid conservative attorneys:
"Everywhere in the law where children are affected, the standard must always be what is in the best interest of the child," said Stemberger, an attorney in Orlando. "What is stunning to me is that when it comes to dealing with gays, that standard goes out the window. Children do better with a mother and a father."
As the judge said, there is no evidence that kids who grow up in a gay household are more likely to be gay, or they'll be harmed. Kids who need parents aren't picky; but I suppose if their potential mommies and daddies are child rapists, they have kind of a sixth sense about that. Sometimes. I'd worry more about that than if the kid's going to have two daddies or two mommies. "But Oh noe, if you're gay that also means you rape kids." I'm not going to even go into that again. But this dumb son of a bitch... holy shit... "when it comes to dealing with gays"... gays are not bad people. People who are shitty are bad, and their sexual orientation does not play into that. Get your heads out of your asses and try learning from something other than a bible. AGH.
I don't know if I should be mad at HLJ or Takara Tomy. So, I'll blame them both. As with King Gojulas, HLJ did not receive enough Orudios to cover pre-orders. Thus, no Orudios for me. D: I ordered it from some Ebay guy at $20 moar... so maybe I'll have the Pointy Horse of Doom after all. Arses to them at any rate! And Toy-Wave only started selling them AFTER I paid for this one. Though, buying from them would not have saved any money. BASTARDS!!!
And now my brain wants me to pay extra for EMS, as the option has become available. Stop that.... FINE, I'LL PAY FOR AIR!!! LEAVE ME BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Superglue and Electrical tape were a temporary solution at best for my poor headphones. Best Buy had the exact same type, but I swear they went up in price. Arses again. I would like to at least make another attempt at fixing the old pair, this time with 5-minute epoxy. I don't foresee that going well either. And the new pair only reminds me of how oversized my head is. MUST BE MOAR BENDY PLZKTHX.
Thanksgiving was actually rather enjoyable, despite the fact that everyone pretty much did their own thing this year. Again. Hope didn't bring the kids down, everyone either went to Grandma's or my Aunt's, etc, but it all went well. Though, apparently I did miss out on my Aunt's extremely bizarre vegetarian friend and her neurotic six year old. Alas... one is liable to find bizarre things wherever one goes.
At any rate, I went up to Hope's last Sunday with Grandma and my uncle Bruce to babysit the kids while they went to AC/DC or some concert. Paige was being cranky for some reason, but Reid was certainly in a playful mood. We gave him a case of blocks for his birthday, so he was getting us to stack them in high towers, then he'd knock them over. Well, what else are you supposed to do with blocks? Yeah. Then, the day after thanksgiving we went back up there to make Pizzas... yes, a splendid idea when you've stuffed yourself with turkey and stuffing the day before. At any rate; more playing with the blocks and knocking them over. Reid also had me try various toys of his so they would make copious amounts of noise. I fed him at dinner time, or rather just stayed nearby so he didn't fall out of his chair or start throwing pizza around. At bed time, I put him in his pajamas; apparently I'm smarter than a zipper, because others have tried and failed to work those pajamas. And what, might I ask, is so hard about a zipper? You get his legs in, then his arms, then you zip him up. Duh.
Somewhere in the past month or two, Reid has reached a milestone. Asking him a question will often get him to respond "Yeah" or "*various animal noises*". Use your judgement as to what response applies to what question: "Does a cow say moo?" or "What does a bunny do?" It's all a normal part of language acquisition and development, but it's still just amazing to think that now he responds and reacts to question. COMPREHENSION ABILITY, WOO! He also gives hugs and kisses upon request, so long as something shiny hasn't captured his attention.
Unfortunately, in these past two incidences, I've re-re-discovered (not a typo) something about kids that bothers me: The television shows and networks that cater to them. Sweet merciful Cthulu... I remember watching stupid stuff when I was a kid, but some of that stuff is timeless, because it was deliberately stupid and knew it. Where will we see Qubo and PBS Kids' shows in 10 years? Nowhere. No legally retarded square headed anthropomorphic animals (not furries; I hesitate to use the word to apply to a kids' show), no Clifford the pituitary-freak dog with his shamefully queer friends and owner, no stereotypical, idiot children flying off to fairy magic land to meet up with ass demolishingly gay dragons, none of it. What the hell do they hope to teach kids through this garbage? They're teaching them that conflicts are resolved by being "polite", animals can talk and are fruitier than Liberace's underwear... AGH. I can't go on. I hate those damn shows, and I feel almost bad for the kids whose parents won't pay attention to them, thus these shows are all they have left.
On a more positive note, I was wrong to wait so long for "Suende". I had merely done so because "Antikorper" was not horribly impressive. "Suende" is a definite improvement. "Kann Denn Liebe Sunde Sein", "Komm Zusser Tod" and "Die Durch Die Hölle Gehen" are all brutal and relentless. "Heilig" is a bit pop-ish; delightfully catchy and electronica-laden, with female vocals backing up Alexx at points. "This is Deutsch" is also heavily electronic, serious and yet somehow playful; I would say it's the equivalent of "Fanatica". "Lust", a longer instrumental track, made me feel like I was submerged in Metroid Prime's Sanctuary or Torvus Bog. This is good. The only disappointments are "Mehr Licht", which is just tepid, along with the remix of "This is Deutsch", only because I can't be arsed with remixes. I would recommend to fans of Neue Deutsche Härte, or German Industrial in general. In summation: MUSIC GOOD. BUY NOW.
I'm not entirely sure I wish to write up this sci-fi thing after all. I would like feedback on it, but I've found that incredibly hard to find lately. Thus, I'm not sure if there would be a point to it. That, and I should at least wait until the term is done. But yeah. Would anybody really be interested in reading Doom's take on a battle in space?
