hehe yes I remember you being horrified, most people don't beleive me :(. He used to yell at me too but the whipping was eventually why I said I didn't want to go anymore, I only kept going back because of the horses because it at the time was the only place mum knew of to send me for lessons.

WOW YAY RIDING DESTINY! :D You've been wanting to do that for what seems like YEARS. It's funny you should mention riding with a whip because I've been riding with a dressage whip aswell lol and don't worry I know you'd never do anything to upset him you're not like that. :) That's a clever idea maybe that would help me with Murphy's going into the fence thing. I haven't ridden him since I hurt my shoulder last week but I have been..not long reining but putting the bridle on adn walking beside him as if I were riding,(Still hurts my shoulder but at least I can walk from the oposit side) you were right about them doing the same thing as when riding when you were telling me about Muffin I didn't think i'd be lucky enough to have murph do the same things but lo and behold he does. Weird. Anyway I now know WHY he does the fence thing now I just have to stop it, he's trying to rush to the gate for sure and his goign sideways is him trying to turn around but because i'm stopping him he can't and ends up sideways.

I don't like crops either, dressage whips are good because they have that little flicky bit on the end you can annoy them with and even if you accidentally miss and get them it's so thin that it doesn't worry them...well doesn't worry Murphy anyway lol I tap him on the bum with it when riding because I don't like kicking him to hard. (also can't because of my dodgy ankles atm)

Anyways enough babble from me, must go and get horse food and pick up little katie from school.

I think that would probably help a lot with Murphy's running into fences - I was thinking that the other day. If tapping him with it works, if you tapped him on the shoulder (or just behind your leg, depending which part of him is going towards the fence first/the most, and if tapping him there would be safe) it may help? Like sort of constant tiny rhythmic taps and stop as soon as he moves back away from the fence... maybe try from the ground first? It's great that he does the same thing when you walk him like that, I've found it really helps (maybe not a complete cure, but helps) for riding. AH! Sideways trying to turn around, sounds just like Destiny. The first few times I rode him we did end up going sideways into the fence and then into the low-hanging branches of a tree/bush thing in the front yard :// but apart from that he's been really good!
