Yurp! Last night, we rented some movies (I got "Bowling for Columbine", and "From Hell") and I must say, both movies were VERY good, but I liked "Bowling for Columbine" in particular.
Why?
Because Marilyn Manson was in it! Whoot!
He did an interview with Michael Moore, and, for all of you who think MM is a terrible, evil, tyrannical person, you have to see that movie.
Mr. Manson believes that we live in a country ruled by FEAR, and that is why they use him as a scapegoat...because he is the "poster-boy" for fear. He says what he wants to, and does what he wants to, and that scares people. However, the president has done so much more through bombing different countries, etc. However, who is the bigger influence on teens? Marilyn Manson, or, the president?
Really, the movie is PHENOMONAL. It sheds some light on Columbine and gun control that not many people really know about...in fact, MM even said in his interview that in the morning of April 20, 1999, (before Columbine happened) President Clinton dropped more bombs on Kosovo than at any other time during that war...and yet, he is a bad guy for singing a couple of rock-an-roll songs?
Yup. Ooooook. But really, it is a must see movie for ANYONE who still thinks Marilyn Manson is a terrible, evil person. It not only shows a side of him not many have seen before, but, it shows a side of the U.S. NOBODY wants to see...the dark and sinister side where the media and government use FEAR to control the U.S.
Then, another of my favorite parts in the movie, Mike Moore visits Canada, and compares thier news and gun control to our news and gun control...
Thier news has barely any killings, among other things that send fear into households...
Ours is basically, as MM said "Somone gets shot, someone gets killed, there is a flood, cut to commercial, and buy the Acura, buy the Colgate because if you have bad breath nobody will talk to you, and if you have pimples, the girl isn't gonna fuck you..."
And as for Gun Control, Canada has about 7 million guns in 10 million households, yet thier yearly rate of gun murder is a little over 60. America has fewer guns, and thier gun killing rate is over 11,000...
It is truly amazing to see the views of Manson, Matt Stone (of South Park fame), among various others throughout the course of this movie.
I give "Bowling For Columbine" 10 stars out of 10!
