Darla rose, paused the DVD on Satan, and went to answer the door. "Bel. Come in," she said warmly, and absolutely no mockery in her manner whatsoever, no, none. "How have your holidays been going?"
Darla sits down on her couch and picks up her mug of blood, crossing her legs gracefully. "And what exactly is the situation with Angel? You said something about a plan to restore Angelus... how *did* that go?"
Sitting down opposite Darla, Bel sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Not as planned," he said, grimacing. "Something went wrong with the spell. I'm not sure what."
Bel couldn't help but chuckle a little. "Yeah. It was supposed to make him and Buffy unable to resist each other, so he'd sleep with her and lose his soul, but it obviously didn't work as planned."
"Obviously," Darla said dryly. "Although I can't see how sleeping with a silly little girl is going to bring him perfect happiness." She drummed her fingers on the couch arm impatiently. "I know that he has that soul, but he's still my Angelus inside. There must be something we can tempt him with -- or someone."
"Of course I can tempt him," Darla said disdainfully. "But he knows what breaks the curse. Me rubbing up against him like a cat in heat is going to be a bit obvious, don't you think?"
"Well, the only two I think might be able to do the job won't be willing to do it," Bel said. "Callisto or maybe Veronica Mars." He smirked. "Both blondes, big shock. Both on Team Good."
Darla smiles. "My boy does have a thing for blondes. What are the chances of corrupting either of them -- magically or otherwise? Because my only other idea would be to somehow confuse my poor boy enough that he remembered who I was... but not what I was. Certainly he couldn't resist me if he forgot a few key facts..."
Bel nodded. "He's still drawn to you, isn't he? So if he could forget a few things, that might work. Or corrupting one of the others. My magic skills aren't that great, but maybe turning one of them into a vampire? No, he'd be able to sense that, wouldn't he?"
"Yes, he is," Darla answered Bel's first question. "And yes, he would be able to sense another vampire. We're rather... distinctive to each other." She thinks. "He'd sacrifice his soul to save someone he cared for. An innocent. Surely we could manufacture some situation where he makes, for want of a better word, a deal with the devil -- his soul for someone else's life?"
Cocking his head, Bel said, "Would he still do that for Buffy? Then again, he came right after me when I grabbed Veronica Mars. She might do."
He settled back in his seat. "I've got a couple ideas myself. I found a ritual that may yank the soul right out of him, happiness or no. And a weapon that should do the same."
"I like that idea better. Playing by the curse's rules is only going to hobble us. But, if necessary, we can keep the more complicated plan in mind. What's the girl's name? Veronica?" Darla rolls her eyes. "Not that Angel seems to adore the image of himself as a noir detective. Maybe I should get to know this Veronica. I know so few of Angel's friends."
