In Lestat's house on the Rue de Royale, Christmas has arrived. Candles have been lit, and there is a huge, sumptuous Christmas tree draped in gold and dark red decorations standing in the lounge. There is an air of Marius's handiwork about it.
There is also a huge, clumsy Alsatian standing in the lounge. Mojo sniffs the many presents from Lestat's fans, arranged around the bottom of the tree presumably by the ever house-proud Louis. He decides that the packages, being inedible, are uninteresting, and smells the chocolates hanging just out of his reach on the tree's branches.
After craning his neck unsuccessfully, Mojo jumps up on his hind-legs and leans against the tree, gobbling a chocolate. Unfortunately, the tree was not created to support the weight of such a large dog, nor any dog at all, and it falls over with the clattering of breaking baubles.
Tail between his legs, Mojo prepares to sidle away guiltily, but suddenly...
