This post has two purposes. First! I know there are other vampires/vampire-hunters/what have in camp. I am not familiar with all those canons! So what I need from you is if you're capable of sensing vampires and generally how vampires work in your canon. Yes, this is partly for my own information, but also so we can figure out how Sanctuary- ( Read more... )

Acheron's canon is uh. OKAY, let's see if I can explain this. Vampires are basically an advanced human-type race created by the Greek god Apollo. He cursed in a ill-thought out fit of pique. Basically, they're called Apollites, and they can't go out in the sun anymore, need blood to sustain themselves, all that fun stuff. Also, they'll die on their 27th birthday. BUT THEY FOUND A LOOPHOLE! Drink human blood and they'll live forever. Or until someone stabs them in the heart or cuts off their head, whichever. Once they drink blood, they call themselves Daimons... but they're still called vampires by a lot of people.

Acheron fights them! Tries to keep them from destroying humanity! All that fun stuff. And yes, he can sense them... because he's a god.

In a roundabout way, one could consider Acheron himself a vampire, as well. He needs to drink blood in order to maintain his own sanity, although his usual method is the more specific type of a particular goddess: Artemis. It is shown that humans can sustain him, it's just not as fulfilling. Also, he doesn't like drinking from humans, it's too bad touch and it's Artemis's fault that he needs to drink blood anyway so she can sustain him. :| (THAT'S A LONG STORY.)

I'm pretty sure Tesla doesn't drink from humans anymore (unless he's broken his promise to Helen, but let's not get into that). Canon doesn't tell if/when/how often he needs to drink blood either although there's some off-hand line about 'still taking his meds'. So there's that.

But other than that, standard Sanctuary rules apply, namely that he's a member of the species Sanguine vampiris, doesn't seem to age, and is generally stronger/faster/harder to kill. He also doesn't have any of the traditional vampiric weaknesses.
