Gran Canaria - 1

Jul 02, 2010 21:01

I´m typing from a computer in my Gran Canaria hotel, 1 euro for fifteen minutes.

First night we went to a bar, a wetherspoons next door to the hotel of all things. Drinks were SO cheep and I got pretty dran sozzled! Then the electrics went faulty and started sparking and the place caught fire so, too drunk to be very bothered we just moved bars. However then the fire spread to our hotel next door and we werent àllowed in until 4am! By which time we had met a lovely group of lesbian ladies and I had bought a quantity of greasy batter covered food that I still couldn´t tell you what was in it! Our room was right at the back and the opposite side of the fire so we had no smoke damage and we were able to stay in our room, however a few people weren´t so lucky and we saw them the next morning leaving with black bags full of soot ruined belongings :(

Thurdsday (yesterday) we went to the beach and swam in the sea, and a very scary African lady from mainland Morocco put a bracelet on me and tried to demand payment for it, but also refused to take it off, so I acted innocent and gave her one euro, telling her it was all I had. She wasn´t happy but she left me alone. Then was the accent back from the beach which involved ten flights of steps in the heat and flipflops! Then we stayed around the pool for abit and I fell asleep in the sun and got lobsterfied. Sunburn is SO painful!

Up sides here: the food and icecream is good, the place is in an irish complex and full of irish people, those who aren´t irish are gay as the gay centre is around the corner (going there tonight). Met some really nice people. We can drink as much as we want all inclusive, the hotel is clean and the staff friendly.

I held an albino python yesterday, which was awesome, I want one!

Bad side: the roaches are awful! D: sooo creepy! Luckily there aren´t many of them but Kaylie finds them terrifying so its my job to put a glass on them and get them off the balcony of our apartment - they´re fast little fuckers!
Another bad side is yuou can´t step outside the hotel without getting haggled by people trying to get you to go to their bars or resturants, on our first night two irish guys literally grabbed Kaylie and my wrists and tried to forcefully drag us into their bar! Luckily my head was screwed on and I literally just yelled "I SAID NOT TODAY!" and they let us go and walked away muttering in Spanish, but I´m pretty sure whatever they were saying it wasnt "what lovely ladies"!

Will probably update further in the week - got some fun days at crocodile parks, zoos, water parks and such planned, oh and a camel ride :S
