Sorry about the delay in posting finding a hotel/cafe with reasonably priced internet access took a while.
f1shbang will be posting more photos soon.
To surmise saw pretty mountains called the glasstops because they look like cooling towers then they went to Noosa which was based around lakes and was lovely would have liked to have spend longer there. On the way on to next place did another horse ride which involved cantering through a lake well in my case doing a couple of strides of canter in a lake (I got the slow coach but bad workmen and all that) Seemed a nice couple of people concerned for horse's welfare.
Hervey Bay was only really worth it for Fraser Island nearby which was lovely and the tour of which involved swimming in a lake where turtles came and floating down a creek. Very bumpy ride around island in 4WD which was quite fun but not for the feeling ropey and we had a cookaborough visiting us at lunch - like all animals he found the food irresistible. There were nice restaurants on the marina where we were in Hervey
Bay but everywhere bar the pizzas chains had shut by nine.
Rockhampton was a long drive away and a rundown town that smelt of cow pats (although that may have been to do with the place flooding a few weeks before we'd been there) That said the people were nice and we found a nice hotel to eat at against all expectations. There were some nice caves on the outskirts too. It was raining a lot of the time except on the Fraser Island tour.
Today's nice again and the beach here at Mackay is great which makes up for there being nothing else really here. We've found a nice tapas bar to eat tonight and are planning on doing a beach ride in Magnetic Island on three days time so I will report on that. I hope you are enjoying the logs and look forward to typing the next one soon.
