Oh, good for you! I must admit, I've become bitter and cynical about the state of movies and shows over the last few years - either because they have become worse or because I've become older (pick one). The last film I really enjoyed was "Crimson Peak" and before and after that is a vast marshland of basically nothing. Though, major thanks to Guillermo del Toro for making a movie that was tailormade for me. (It's like he took all the ingredients I like, added some flavors and said "here you go girl, enjoy.)

The "Lord of the Rings" was never a book very dear to my heart, but the movies are a great adaptation, because the stayed true to the spirit of the story - everyone involved tried to be faithful to Tolkien's underlying ideas, and it shines through to this day.

A book that IS very dear to my heart is "Interview with the Vampire". After years of shipping the rights around they finally make this into a tv show and it turns out to be an absolute travesty. I'm not even saying it's a bad show (I haven't seen it), but it's NOT "Interview with the Vampire". All it does is borrow names from Anne Rice's works. To see such a huge missed opportunity for something that could have been awesome and great simply makes me sad and bitter. To have a universe like Anne Rice's vampires and Mayfair witches at you disposal is absolute GOLD. And they just wasted it.
