I sit here in tears writing this.
I'm holding a card that my mom gave me for Valentine's Day.She handed me this when she, herself, was crying. According to her I am not going to have a future, and my sister is in a relationship with a worthless guy who can't support her. After handing it to me I left the room so she could sob in peace, only to hear one minute later that I'm not appreciative. She shrugged off my 'thank you' and walked away.
"We love you and feel so blessed you're a part of our lives - Mom & Dad"
Does it come as a surprise that this card doesn't quite ring true to me?
