So, um ... hi everyone!
I've been a lurker for a few years now, always SPN oriented, and the other day I was looking at the potential for on-line communities at work and I came across the wikipedia entry. It talks about a life cycle of people in online communities:
- Peripheral (i.e. Lurker) - An outside, unstructured participation
- Inbound (i.e. Novice) - Newcomer is invested in the community and heading towards full participation
- Insider (i.e. Regular) - Full committed community participant
- Boundary (i.e. Leader) - A leader, sustains membership participation and brokers interactions
- Outbound (i.e. Elder) - Process of leaving the community due to new relationships, new positions, new outlook
A couple of months previously I'd returned to the UK, and thought about getting connected to people locally with a similar interest, see if I could have some fun with this, actually progress a bit - maybe start getting a bit more involved - dare I move to stage 2 and become 'inbound'?
So .... I've booked to go to A8 in May, and I went to Lazy_daze spn fangirl get-together in London last Saturday. How much fun was that??? Loads of fun!! I met some really interesting people and some of them have friended me already, which I'm really happy about. I wasn't able to stay for the get drunk and wake up the next morning with a hangover part, but I'm definitely going to try to get to that bit next time!
I don't actually know how good I'll be at being 'inbound', but having dipped my toe in the water, I'm going to have a good go at taking the whole plunge.
So, over the next few days I think I'll say a few things about myself, and thoughts on SPN, likes/dislikes, kinks etc, and just try and get myself used to posting stuff.
I might also have a go at a blindfold_spn prompt - nice and annonymous, don't have to admit to it, and if I get any comments, then I'll decide what to do on that front next.
Upshot - glad to be here, and looking forward to getting involved.
