Got the new iPod last night. I decided to stick with the 8 GB touch, since I'm only up to 4 GB of music and most of that I still skip over. And on the upside it only cost me about $100 after I tossed all my many accrued Target gift cards at it. Thank god they don't expire.
Now that I'm using a different touch, I think the touch screen on my old one has been going bad for months and I just haven't realized it. Songs were getting stuck on fast forward, for example, and I'd sometimes invade the wrong country in my Risk-alike even though I was definitely on target. Whatever the case, this is a gen 2 Touch, so it's got a speaker built in and volume controls on the outside. Not awesome for listening to music, but great for game sounds when I don't have my headphones at least. Now to figure out how to protect it from getting the screen squished.
The thing supports bluetooth supposedly, so I'm morbidly curious to see if I can find a pair of bluetooth headphones or a way to connect it to my bluetooth earpiece for my phone. That'd be pretty slick considering I usually only listen to one earphone when I'm on the metro anyway.
Slightly related, but when iTunes did the system restore it restored everything including the name. Not sure I want to keep Orpheus as the name of this one. Anyone know other figures from Greek myth related to music? Besides Apollo.
