Steve KluthThe mountains to the west are now covered with snow, courtesy of the snow that Kabul got earlier this week. In Salang Pass which connects the Kabul Valley with the northern and mostly Tajik part of the country, there was an avalanche that has killed an estimated 140 people. So this beauty also has its dark side, just like all you digging out in the Northeast and Midwest. BTW, that peak is about 14,000 feet high or as high as anything in the continental US.
