OK. Sorry it's been a while. I have honestly been quite busy; getting ready for my deployment and painting the family room, along with putting together a new project at work. Yeah, I also wasted a bunch of time. But I really have been busy. So busy, I've been staying late at work. And I don't get paid for overtime here.
The painting looks pretty good. We painted the family room "Torchlight," a deep yellow with a hint of orange, at least according to the
Behr paint charts at
Home Depot. I'd send you to the web site, but the color online looks nothing like it does in the room. (In fact, it looks like Macaw online, color 320B-7. Lesson: don't just paint colors online.) We also painted the bricks on the fireplace a combination of reds instead of the plain white. We still have to get under the fire screen, but otherwise the painting is done. I suppose I'll take pictures soon.
I also have had to get ready for a trip to
Green Bay next weekend. My Uncle Tom and Aunt Marge are having their 50th wedding anniversary. I probably wouldn't go as I saw them last May, but their daughter will be back from Portugal and I haven't seen her in about 15 years. We used to be pretty close when we were growing up. She has a cute Portuguese hubby too, but if he's there he's just eye candy. There are some things I just won't do ever. (OTOH, if his brother, who was best man at the wedding, is there and single, well....)
In two weeks, I get to spend one and a half weeks in beautiful
Fredericksburg, VA for "Crash and Bang" class. That is, I get to learn to drive really defensively and shoot guns, along with two days of battlefield trauma first aid. Some people really like it, but I don't think I'll be too excited. Not sure what I'll do on the weekend. I may head down to my old haunts and see friends and former neighbors. But I'll be playing it all by ear. If nothing else, I'm sure I'll get some reading done at the hotel.
Today was the
Show Me Bears picnic in
Tower Grove Park. It was also a club meeting and I set up my volunteering for
HiBearNation. I'll be doing registration Friday from 10-3 during the day and also being bus monitor from 11PM-1AM Fri night/Sat morn. Should be fun.
